Best Resort Holiday Displays
We live pretty close to WDW, have passes, will probably go a time or so to the parks over the next month or so. Of course the resorts themselves are amazing this time of year, so I'm thinking about a day just to resort hop, see all them all dressed up in their holiday best.
We've stayed at WL during the holidays, and know how beautiful it is. I've heard about the gingerbread house at GF, so those will both probably be on the list. Which other places do you all suggest?

All of the Deluxe resorts have some type of holiday display (except perhaps the Poly). I really like the chocolate show pieces over at the Epcot resorts (Boardwalk and Beach Club). The AKL had a really nicely themed holiday tree and decorations.

If you haven't done so, walk over to FW from the WL to see the RVer Christmas displays. Many of them are lovely and quite whimsical.

The Swan and Dolphin (especially) have lovely Christmas decorations, too.

You can hop the monorail to see CR, Poly, and GF and it won't take lots of time. Would definitely tour AKL - my 3 favorite resorts are GF, WL, and AKL for decorations.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate them!
Does anyone know if the moderates or values have displays of interest? And what about the Contemporary? Again, thanks for replying, and loaning me your experience!

monorail resorts
Hi, not too far from you. Just over here in Winter Haven. I just did the monorail resorts today and AKL
I love love love AKL (not the villas, the lodge ) be sure to check out the tree over there. The Poly does have a tree, lots of garland and wreaths. Contemp, has wreaths as well. They also have a Gingerbread Tree but no they are not all decked out IMHO Now the Grand Floridian, you MUST go over! Take the monorail for the most breath taking view. My first time seeing the Gingerbread House. Be sure to purchase something from there, yum yum. Enjoy

Mods and values
I dont believe they have anything that is a must see.
They do have wreaths but not OMGoodness decorations. On my list for this year is to go over the Fort Wilderness as well. REALLY would like to see the Processional at least once this year. Looking forward to Epcot some more as well. Seen a few of the "Santas" in years past but want to get them all this year. Happy Touring

We are going in December, too, living only about 1 1/2 hrs away. My plan was to check in early & then catch a bus to MK & hop on the monorail & do all those resorts for the Christmas Decorations, especially the Gingerbread Houses at GF. I have heard so much about them over the years. Had not thought about WL or AKL, but just might have to figure a way to get there without having to take car.
Happy Holidays Everyone!!

I really like the resorts with the very large lobby Christmas trees. And of the foru resorts that fit that description, you are staying at my favorite, the Wilderness Lodge with the large lobby Christmas tree. But I also love the log walls and columns and fireplaces and nice seating and everything about the resort in decorated for Christmas. Plus, the Wilderness Lodge Villa has a nice Christmas tree and nice seating area next to the fireplaces. The other three are the Dolphin resort and the Grand Floridian Resort and the Animal Kingdom Lodge and just use the sidewalk to visit the sister resort to see some decorations. While I am at the WL, I have loved the evening strolls through the Fort Wilderness CampGround to see all of the campers lighted decorations, too. And when at Epcot area, I walk or use the boat launch to visit the Boardwalk Resort, the Beach and Yacht Club Resorts and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts. While at DownTown Disney in the evening, I love visiting the Disney Christmas store and all the decorations at all of DTD, and West Side. Then I take the DTD pontoon boat taxi to visit Saratoga Springs Resort or Old Key West or Port Orleans Riverside and stroll along the sidewalks to Port Orleans French Quarter. This year, I want to visit the new Animator's Resort and cross the bridge over the lake and see the Pop Century Resort. I might even visit the AllStar Sports, Movies and Music Resorts. During the day, I like to visit the Caribbean Resort and Coronado Resort and also stroll around their lakes. And when I visit Polynesian Resort, I time it to watch the MVMCP Wishes on the beach and the Lake Electric Light Parade and get a Dole Whip from their fast food area. If you are a DVC member, watching from atop the Bay Lake Tower is pretty cool, too. Did I leave anything out? Last edited by RaySharpton; 11-21-2012 at 03:07 AM. |

Which resorts have the PhotoPass Photographers there. We're going to spend a day doing the resort tour thing too before we go to the Christmas party one night. Thought it might be a great time to get a really Christmasy family photo!
We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge Thanksgiving week last year and accidentally got a nice picture after a HARD day at the park. We really didn't look all that presentable BUT a great tree made it a great picture anyway. |

The chocolate carousel and the train lay out at the Beach Club and BW (or Yacht Club) are my two favorites, the next being the Gingerbread House at the GF.

FtW is the one area that I have never walked around. I am completely unfamiliar with it. So, what is the best way to walk around and check out the RV displays??? I've heard they are incredible. Is it better to take the boat over???

The best campsites seem to congregrate around this area. I didn't walk way back into the campsite area, but just through a few of the communities which were clearly highly decorated. I wish that I could give you more help. I'll try and check for a map later tonight. |
