Somehow I missed that version. But that song is pretty rough, no matter who sings it. Festive, it ain't.
My pet peeve is the 'modern' versions of classic Christmas carols. I really don't need to hear any Christmas recordings made after, say, 1968.
I think I wouldn't be so grumpy about the incessant carol-playing if they'd stick to the old stuff. Nobody needed to record "White Christmas" after Bing Crosby did it. Same goes for Andy Williams' version of "Do You Hear What I Hear", and Johnny Mathis's "Most Wonderful Time of the Year".
Excuse me, now I need to go chase the kids off my lawn.
