Magical Help requested

Ok, I always tell my kids "There's no such thing as a silly question"....so I am going to ask......

Is it necessary to bring both Birth Certificates and Passports?

Are the Bottles of wine priced outrageously for dinner? Is there a package deal, if so, is it worth it?

Does everyone dress up as Pirates on pirate nite?

How does the "book the Dummy Cruise" work...do you sign up as soon as you board? How much extra should I bring. Details appreciated....

How do you sign up for Tea with Alice on the Magic?

If you have passports, you don't need the birth certificates. BC & photo ID would be for anyone who doesn't have a passport.

Pirate night - not "everyone" dresses up. Some do, some don't. You'll see everything from just a pirate themed Tshirt, or the bandana DCL supplies to full blown pirate gear (like they just stepped off a POTC movie set).

Tea with Alice - go to Guest Services as soon as you board to do this. One note here, the tickets are free, but limited. So, if you get tickets, and then decide not to do it, don't just not show up, please return the tickets (there's usually a waiting list).

Wine is priced about the same as in land restaurants. There is a package and it is worth it if you drink all the bottles you buy. We bring our own for our stateroom and if we want a glass at dinner or in a bar we just buy one.

If you want to book a future cruise you go to the future cruise desk and book one at any point during the cruise. Just check the navigator or there is a sign with the times they are there. The amount needed for a deposit will very based on what you book. I know I want a 4 night in fall 2014 so I booked a 4 night fall 2013 to try to keep the deposit as even as possible. If you book a 3 night then switch to a 7+ night you will need to pay the difference of the deposit when you make the switch.

If I had passports I would go ahead and bring them- you can cruise on a passport but if you have an emergency and need to fly home no airline will accept a birth certificate.

Well, your right, there are no silly questions, only silly answers.

Re; passports. The simple answer is No, but.... great question and the first time I have seen it.

We did bring both, passports and BCs. And with my two years of reading the boards, not once did I hear anyone mention this tactic. Lots of talk about copies of this or that and what to leave onboard or not. Whatever.

We figured if one set got lost we were safe. In other words, if the BCs were lost we had the passports, and vice versa. We also carried our passports off ship to get stamped in the foreign ports. If they somehow failed to make it back to the ship with us, it seemed like a no brainier to have the BCs in the ship safe if needed to re-enter the USA.

YMMV

Pirate Night; On our sailing I was surprised how many folks dressed up. If I had to guess it was 75%.
Fwiw we were on a Halloween sailing. Not sure how much that played into the dress up numbers tough. But I suspect ALOT.

Don't feel any pressure to dress up for Pirate Night. You won't be alone. It's OK. Do what you want. It is your vacation.

On our Mexican Riviera cruise last year, not very many people dressed up. A few bandanas and earrings or pirate themed t-shirts. We decked out! I bought costumes from amazon, and did it up. I like that about my family! It was really fun for us. We didn't feel out of place, but we aren't the kind of people who care about how other people judge us. We let loose and danced and had fun!! We are doing it again on our next one!!

On our Pixar Cruise last month, there were a lot of really cool costumes all around us. Still, not everyone had dressed up. They gave us all bandanas so you would have at least something if you didn't plan ahead.

Not hard though to plan a bit ahead. We picked up a couple things last minute at a dollar store and our son got creative with his clothes and some non-permanent markers. We all had a blast.

As for the wine... Bring a few bottles of your favorites on in your carry on. They have daily drink specials and also beer is cheaper if you buy the mug but the wine may cost you if you buy on board.

We are all really pumped up for our first cruise! DH and I are going to purchase the beer mugs package- and bring a few bottles of wine for the room.

No silly questions Can't answer all of your, but NO you do NOT have to bring both birth certificates and passports. If you have a passport, then leave birth certificate at home ( since you had to have a BC to get a passport, they don't need that)

Pirate night: Some people dress and others don't. We dress for dinner then changed for the show. Which is kinda weird I know, but the outfits we brought were kinda scratchy and we had sunburn from a day at Cozumel, so we really just wanted to get into some comfy clothes. Plus the wind was something fierce on the top deck for the show and my dress would have been inverted over my head That in of itself would have been a show.

Never signed up for a tea with Alice, but if you ask at guest services they can help you or at least guide you to the area on the ship that takes care of that.
