So, it really depends on when the ship docks, how many people to sign up and if they get to Tube on time! That's why we started so late. The race was fun altho a little warm because of the late start. Water stations along the way. We had a really good time. Would definitely do it again! Not sure about kids club as we didn't need to use them. We had other family on the beach with our kids and stuff we needed after race.

I'll be partaking on our 12/6 Dream cruise.
I really hope there is a medal. I'm all about the bling. 2012 is the year of Disney medals for me. Donald, Mickey, Goofy, the DL 1/2 and the Coast to Coast. This could be my Coast to Coast to Coast challenge!

Congratulations on all your bling! I earned the Donald this year and now I have my CC5K Mickey. Don't get too excited about the bling tho, it's a plastic mickey head. But it's great!

I'm so excited to run this in February. I just started training in Sept (never ran before) and I'm doing a 12 minute mile now on hills, so I know I can easily finish it before 45 mins are up. Hoping to be down to at least a 10 min mile by Feb, but I'm not sure how ill do once the weather gets super cold here. Either way, I can't WAIT!
The only thing that might thwart my efforts is parasailing. DH and I both really want to go. Hoping we can get a later time, possibly around 1PM, so I can do both. It's our first cruise so we can't book excursions yet! Dec 1 *fingers crossed*

Question for runners & those with more fitness experience than me
![]() I have never been a runner but I have always said I wanted to do a 5k. Well, we will be on CC in January & I'd love to try it. My question is, is an elliptical helpful at all for training to run? I'm going to attempt to do a C25K that is 9 weeks. And hopefully I can get through it in time. But sometimes with three kids its hard to get outside and the elliptical is what I do. I usually do 30 minutes on the elliptical. If that's what I'm used to doing, will running a 5k be way harder & different. Or if I mostly use the elliptical & don't get a chance to do much running, do u think I have a chance of completing it? Not so worried about time, as much as just having the endurance to finish. Thanks!

I'll be on this cruise and attempting my first 5K, too! So I can't answer any of your questions, but thought I'd chime in and say see you there!

I'm definitely attempting it, no matter what my training ends up being. I'm not too worried about finishing time, just want to finish. Have you been doing any training?

So great that your dad is doing it with you! I doubt anyone in my family will do it with me, unless my 13 yr old does. He says he is interested, but I have a funny feeling when I go to wake him up early on a vacation day, it won't sound quite so fun to him

![]() As weird as I sometimes think it sounds, my dad and I do what we can to get together a couple of times a year because he lives halfway across the country from me, which turns out to be a cruise together this year. So just the two of us, but I think it makes it easier to talk him into this kind of thing. |

Now for that experience (and this is only my own observations)- even with it being completely flat, the CC5K was much harder than running on the treadmill. I think part of that was adrenaline and I didn't pace myself, but after probably 1.5 miles, I needed to stop to walk a bit. I'm sure some of this had to do with the heat/humidity, although I didn't feel like I was feeling that too badly. Also, even with being able to do the elliptical for an hour and run 4 miles on the treadmill, my legs were really hurting for the rest of the cruise- not debilitating, but enough so that every time I sat down I remembered the CC5K. Also, a lot of people said there were a lot of walkers. We had about 40 people my day and I was far and away dead last while not walking all that much. Add to that that I got lost toward the end and added on probably a good quarter mile and I wound up finishing in about 46 minutes (which I didn't think was that bad) but they had already left. I had to get my medal and cert. from guest services ![]() All in all though, it was worth it. I still do the elliptical regularly and will start training for our May cruise CC5K in late March or early April. |

I just finished a work sponsored 5k. I am only on week 3 of my couch to 5k program, but I finished the 5k in just under 40 minutes with a 5 minute warmup walk and then alternating jogging and walking. I wanted to share as I am very proud of myself. Before today, I hadn't "run" a 5k since highschool. I am very much looking forward to my next work sponsored 5k in December and the the Castaway Cay 5k in February

I have to share...
I'm on week 7 of C25K. Decided to run outside today instead of on the treadmill, since its a balmy 6C today and only going to get colder. I've been running 2.5 miles in 35 mins on the treadmill. But... Today I ran 5K in 36 minutes pushing DS2 (42lbs) in the jogging stroller! This is amazing! I'm so glad I have CC5K to motivate me
