He also said that he "seriously doubted" that the Dream or Fantasy would do any southern caribbean itineraries.

Thanks for passing it along. It at least give us some not so far in the future time to hope for. If it doesn't happen, at least the aggravation will have been relieved for a couple of weeks :-) I can't believe we (my daughter and I) are anxiously waiting for announcement of a cruise exactly 2 days past where they are now listed, and can't finalize our plans for the lack of 2 days in the schedule :-) We keep guessing what the plans for the Magic will be after the 2013/14 New Years Cruise (on which we are booked) docks on 1/2/2014. Will they go to the Bahamas for 3 or 4 days? Will they go to the Caribbean for 5 days? Will they create some 4 day Caribbean shorties out of Miami like Carnival has? Will they just move the ship to a completely different place? Too many options! Carnival has an inexpensive 4 day Caribbean out of Miami leaving on 1/2/2014 and if Disney doesn't do something soon, we are likely to book on that one.

I really wouldn't think it will be before December 16. They will not want a bunch of 2014 cruises sitting with only 10% deposits down. Hope I am wrong.

Airfare prices are going to kill DCL if they don't lower the prices. Disney has raised their Southern California Park prices, and they are losing annual passholders left and right because of it. They must think the economy is quickly recovering? What hole do they have their head in?

I'm a huge DCL fan, but they're pricing my family right out of a cruise vacation if they keep these prices up because I won't be able to afford airfare, hotel, transportation, and excursions.

You can drive to the port. People don't have to fly.

Disney shouldn't have to adjust their prices to accommodate for higher airfare costs. Of course, I'm not arguing for higher prices.

Drive from California to Florida, New York or Texas? Many people have to fly. I think that should be taken into consideration unless its a local resident discount.

Thank you!!! They're taking away our California port so I'm not about to drive to Florida, Texas, Vancouver or NY. I'm really getting tired of Disney's price hikes for no reason.

Maybe airlines should lower prices, I'd fly to CA, but it's expensive so I stick with cruising out of Florida, because even though still expensive cheaper to fly to Orlando

Exactly! From New Mexico, we can drive to LA in about 9 hours, so that isn't too prohibitive. Unfortunately, the variety of cruises out of LA is very limited. We are about a 17 hour drive to Galveston and I'm not even going to guess how long it is to Florida or the NE. Certainly not drivable. I just paid $300 one way for one person for a trip to Jacksonville I made last week for a business trip. Flights to Orlando now are about $250 one way. Even for just two people that adds up very quickly. Not so long ago we were able to get Southwest Dings to MCO for $150 per person RT or less. With the talk of carbon taxes and other rises in fuel costs that have been promised, I see this getting much worse before it gets any better. It would really behoove all cruise lines and not just Disney to provide some variety on each coast if they want to keep the cruise ship business lucrative.

Yep, typo on the 2012--I meant 2011. Are you sure about Sept. 2009? I could swear we made our reservation in June...

Not everyone lives close enough to drive. Is there a new tunnel from Europe that I didn't know about? Spending close to another $3,000 for airfare is going to prevent me cruising DCL at their inflated rates.

Obviously I wasn't speaking of the Med cruises. and I just purchased airfare for the Med.

Yes, people can drive. You don't have to live in Florida to drive. We drove from Texas to Cali, Pennsylvania and other such places so it is possible to drive. You can save the air and enjoy Disney. We are doing that within the next couple of months. Driving 15 to enjoy the Fantasy. It all depends on what you want.

We are anxiously awaiting the dates also. We booked a cruise on board the Dream and want to change it to 2014. A side note: we are also awaiting our refund for the port fees and taxes from our 10/25 Dream sailing. There needs to be better communication between DCL and DVC. What a fiasco! DH has a bet to see what is first: our refund or the 2014 itineraries- LOL

From where I live the minimum drive time is 19 hours. That is without any stops. 1) I don't have an extra 4-6 days of vacation to waste driving with 3 going on 4 whiny kids in the car (love my kids, but not enough to do that long of a road trip). If you can handle it more power to ya.

Agreed. As a single parent with no one to share the drive, there's just no way.

Ditto! My schedule is less restrictive because I am retired, but I travel with my daughter who has to live within vacation time restrictions. Not possible for her to take two weeks for a one week vacation. Driving 15 hours to get to the Fantasy is something I would consider if it were possible, but it would take at least twice that from where I am.
