Thursday ownage.

Time for work. Busy day planned - phone conference, travel voucher, and reading. Office days have been so much better since I figured out how to download books from the library on my iPad.

Tonite - Soccer Board Meeting.

She then lied saying I gave her permission to bring it Youngest jumped on DW's back while she was bent over picking something up, ended up pulling something, so she's in a lot of pain. Then DW gets a call from her mom, she and her step-dad were broadsided by a deer tonight. Yep, they didn't hit the deer, the deer junped into the side of the car. Thank goodness they had slowed down just before it hit. Both are fine, a little shaken, driver's side banged up pretty good.

On the plus side though, Amelia was awarded her first four achievement badges from Brownies! Good on her...now just needs to focus on schoolwork.
Wow... lot of stuff in that one post.

Seth has been forgetting his homework too lately.

So 1) He has been grounded for a week. Instead of doing homework, he'd watch TV, play video games, go on the computer... So with no homework he can't do any of that. and 2) I drove him back to his school Tuesday evening, and found a caretacker to open the classroom, and he picked up his homework.
I think that behavior of "forgetting" is now behind him.

Books on the iPad are great.

Morning Gents.

Heading in to our busiest weekend of the year. Our annual sport summit starts tomorrow. That includes our AGM and our annual Provincial sport awards on Saturday evening.

Have a terrific Thursday!

Seems many deer do that, not the brightest animal in the world. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

I definitely miss those days. I used to have a philosophy about park touring that if it didn't fit in a cargo shorts pocket, it didn't need to go.

"Please stand clear of the doors, mate." Now do you have to give the second part of the spiel in Spanish, or can you do it in Australian?

That's a shame. And I don't even like cats.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. I wonder if it's the same deer that attacked our van the other day. We've got a serial auto body killer on the loose.

It sounds like a rough day. Hope things get better. Hope DW feels better soon.

How old is Amelia? We had some of the same issues with DD when she was in 3rd grade last year. No issues in grade 1 and 2, then all of a sudden we started seeing her focus changing. For my DD it was a social thing. She started being more concerned with her friends and was forgetful of the other things. She is now in 4th grade and working hard again. The lying is pretty normal.

Good Luck. Raising kids is HARD.

I remember this on TV years ago, I'm surprised it's not on a proper DVD release. Thanks for sharing.

Yup...Amelia's always been a bit scatterbrained, that's fine, but lately it's getting out of hand. It is a social thing. She gets so geared up to play in the afterschool program, she rushes out of the classroom. Her grades are only so-so as it is, and tonight is the parent-teacher confrence ( I can't even be there, working of course.) and we are expecting the teacher to want to talk. Amelia turns 8 Monday. Also she puts off homework till the lsast minute, not good because 3/5 nights she has evening events (swim lessons, Brownies, and Church Band Practice)so she stays up later then we like finishing.
Right now she's on a TV ban and I've talked to the afterschool program director that Amelia can't have playtime till her homework's done, especially nights she's got things going. If it continues, DW will pull her out of Brownies, which I don;t want to see, she's got loads of cool stuff comming up with it.

Conference call, retirement lunch for a co-worker and trying to get the desk cleared before Friday afternoon. Lord willing and the creek don't rise we will then head north to visit the relations for a week. Not a vacation at all but we haven't been up in a couple of years and there is no lake effect snow in the forecast.

Our last trip was bag free, except the wife's purse. Not sure why we needed it since everything was charged to the room and FD, but a happy wife equals a happy family. Hopefully we can convince her to leave it behind next time.

I feel your pain. It does get better, I promise. We had to institute family law #7 - No evening events (or tv/video games) until homework is complete and put into the backpack for safe keeping. It really does help as they both come home and get right to work now. It does take a couple of weeks to get into a good pattern and our events don't begin until 5PM. DD struggles as well, especially with math. DS is a freak of nature (think rain man). Never forgets anything, limited studying and finishes his hour of homework in like 12 minutes. Loves to read as well. We keep thinking maybe we brought the wrong one home, but he kind of looks just like me.

And for those that enjoy hoops, DD's team won 6-2 last night and she scored 4 of the 6 points. Yup, guess who is a proud dad this morning.
