Say no to the lobster roll

I can't recommend the lobster roll either, unfortunately. I wasn't expecting much when I got it- I knew it probably wouldn't stand up to anything served in New England. Thankfully mine wasn't as soupy as some of the pictures I've seen, and you could tell there was lobster in it. That said, I personally found that the flavor of bell pepper overwhelmed the whole thing, and that for me trumped any redeeming qualities this sandwich had.

If you like mayo on bread, and lots of it, this roll is for you. very runny, and gooky (not even as good as that one picture). Otherwise, it's the most awful excuse for a sandwich I've seen. Actually, it isn't too far off what we tried in Maine at three different places hoping to find a good one like we'd always heard about. All the ones we tried were just about like the ones at Disney.

We just started getting whole lobsters from the lobster pounds and stopped trying to find a good lobster roll.

Agreed.

We prefer the Hummus Sandwich at Columbia House.

But I will be trying a Lobster Roll @ Food & Wine this coming Sunday in EPCOT. Rumor has it that is a better version.

I don't think I'd dare get this...being from Ct and all, we have easy access to those hot buttery creations called lobster rolls whenever...

Thumbs up To each his own, I guess...

We're not from the east coast so we don't get "real" lobster rolls as described above. But we spend a lot of time in Florida and love seafood of all kinds. Columbia Harbor House is one of our favorite counter service places; it's great to get non-theme-park fast food there (instead of just burgers & hot dogs.) We decided to try the lobster rolls there yesterday, in the interest of getting something we had not tried before.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. YES, it is more like lobster salad, with lots of creamy mayo; but it was also full of lobster & not nearly so gloppy as some saying. It was piled high on the bun...we had to eat about 1/3 of it with a fork because it was piled too high to pick the sandwich up. Once we ate the over-flow off, it was then possible to pick it up & eat it like a sandwich.... The bun was like a hoagie bun and did not get saturated...the roll was definitely substantial enough for the lobster salad.

We would get them again anytime.

Now if you want a "Real" lobster roll, I came across a food truck in DtD across fro Raglan Rd that advertises it serves "real" Maine lobster rolls. Dunno if it's good - didn't try it as it doesn't take DDP. Looked cool though!
Too funny ... SSB has had one from that truck when in downtown Windermere. Pretty tasty, but have to admit the mentioned NE version still the best!

You can also order the F&W lobster roll without mayo.

There's no mayo on the F&W Lobster roll to begin with. So no need to order it without mayo.

And apparently, the CHH lobster roll is a "real" lobster roll, it just depends on where in New England you come from (CHH being a "Maine" Lobster Roll). This was posted by someone else on another thread - it's a picture of a food truck menu from a food truck that was parked in DTD.

So maybe this will put to rest all this NONSENSE about how CHH lobster roll is "gross" and "not real".

I can appreciate that some people don't like mayo or seafood type salads. But really, it's kind of like arguing over thin or thick crust pizza. Just ridiculous. Like what you like and allow others to like what they like.

Monsta Lobsta is the name of the food truck. They have yummy lobster rolls for $10. They also have lobster bisque and other stuff.

My mom had the CT lobster roll from the Clawdaddy truck at DTD and she's still in ecstasy over it. She said it was incredible.

I REALLY wanted to like it, but alas, I did not.

What I do miss at CHH is their ham sandwich with broccoli slaw on it. (whatever it was called).

There is no reason for anyone from a place famous for a particular cuisine to diss the food at WDW for being sub-par. "I'm from New Orleans, this wasn't good cajun food", "I'm from Memphis, the ribs are awful", "Here in Chicago we wouldn't pay that much for a steak of that quality." Really? It's a resort in central Florida known mostly for fun rides & attractions. The food is supposed to be authentic??? Many of the WDW eateries are way beyond what you'd expect to get in a theme park resort, but to compare it to the real deal cuisine from the place that is famous for it is not realistic at all.

If you're lucky enough to live in or near a place that has the quintessential version of a delicious dish, I envy you and hope to visit there one day, Otherwise, adjust your expectations to around Applebee's level for most of the eateries at WDW. Some of that stuff is pretty good
