It's a small island and it looked like there would be light shopping and beach activities available. Not a ton to do it seems. There might be other things to do on the island but I didn't investigate further.

Edited: I just read they have no electricity or running water and no restaurants. Probably not a great port stop for people looking for more than just a tropical island to see.
That reminds me of Costa Maya. I can't remember if they have electircity. We got off... we shopped at the cruise ship half circle of stores, watched some dancers and back to the ship. In Ensenada in October we just went to the little store at the foot of the gangway. It felt safe and we didn't see the Mexican Army with their big guns.

They have electricity, running water and restaurants in Costa Maya. Since you got off the ship and walked around the port you would have seen that, even in the small port area.

Someone I know just came back from the Fantasy... The cruise desk 'knows' the date but all they could say was 'Before February'.

Looks like we need to wait a couple of months...

[QUOTE=NancyIL;46687530]A cruise that has to stop in Fanning Island would be longer than 7 nights. Only NCL's Pride of America does 7-nght cruises from Hawaii, as it is a US-flagged ship.

We did a 7 night Hawaiian cruise (RT Honolulu) in 2003 for our Honeymoon on NCL (before Pride of America - non US flagged ship), and our foreign port was Fanning Island. We also had 3 other Hawaiian ports.

Fanning Island was breathtaking. You had to tender, but once you got there, it was the most amazing place. We were told that the beach was used for either the opening or closing credits for Gilligan's Island. I'd go there again in a heartbeat.

I stand corrected. I had read that the cruises that stopped in Fanning Island were longer due to the length of time it took to travel to and from Hawaii.

Do any cruise lines still do the round trip out of Honolulu and include Fanning Island?

I was curious about this and went on a site where you can search by port stop and Fanning Island wasn't listed as one of the options for any line.

Other than NCL's Pride of America - the only Hawaii cruises I saw when checking a travel agency web site were repositioning cruises and roundtrips from California.

Thanks. Tried NCL Hawaii once -- just the thought of doing another cruise with them makes me shudder.

Our TA just made us a spectacular offer with RCCL for 2014, so we'll probably skip DCL.

Is that a Hawaii cruise on RCI? Twice I have booked a Hawaii repo cruise on RCI, and both times I have moved that reservation to something else. Hopefully I'll get there one of these days!

I was ready to book the Wonder's Vancouver to Honolulu one-way in September 2013 that never materialized. I got tired of waiting for DCL to announce their fall 2013 cruises, and instead moved an onboard booking to the Magic's May 2013 Transatlantic cruise.

Yes, I agree. I keep getting excited about some news every time I see a new post, but they don't have much to do with 2014 dates. I prob. Just caused someone else some excitement haha.

I doubt if there are many more possible predictions than the ones that have been made here already :-) I think Disney should read the thread, though, to see how many are beginning to think about booking with other cruise lines. We are now among that group.

So I am looking at a fall 2014 Dream or Fantasy cruise. For fun I started looking at other lines and the ones I have looked at, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess, only have the first part of 2014 out. Is there really such a rush for DCL to release the entire year?

Pictures and announcements on the main page of the DCL site look different!
