Just curious - why no youtube embedding?

I frequent a few varied forums, and all the others I use allow embedded youtube (using the [youtube] tag). I'm fairly sure vbulletin 3.8.4 allows this, so I presume it's been turned off by the admins. Just curious why? It's quite a nice-to-have, especially in a trip report (that I just happen to be currently writing, hence my question).

Although it allows me to extend my query to tables as well - again, other forums allow you to add a table to posts, which is very handy if you're embedding lots of pictures (like in a TR ). Also not on DISBoards...?

I think it's the right place to ask. I'm just not sure you'll get an answer. For whatever reason, the powers that be choose not to allow it.

They used to, and also allow music, etc., but these forums are huge, and whenever someone posts something that causes a glitch, it is a lot of work to fix it.

OK, thanks for the response. I can understand that for the tables question - server-side parsing could cause issues there I suppose. Youtube embedding just chucks out a link for the browser to deal with so shouldn't ever cause server-side issues.

Anyway, it was just a curiosity thing from an old software developer, so thanks for answering.
