Trip Insurance Question (shortened trip)
I need some advice from the disboards please.
My DH and I left for our annual WDW trip on Monday, 10/22. When we checked in I turned on the TV and heard about this hurricane called Sandy and it was in the Carribean. I didnt think much of it. Day or so passed and I see that it was not going to hit Florida so I stopped paying attention. Around 10/25, I get a call from a friend who is also in Florida, she asks me if I have been paying attention to this storm and I told her not anymore. She alerts me that its supposed to hit our home state of NJ and doesnt think we will get home. We were scheduled to leave Monday, 10/29, her on 10/30. My DH and I decided to cut our vacation short and we left on 10/27. We changed our flight on 10/26 and were charge about $600 more in change fees and price difference; but before we checked in on 10/27 the fees for our flight was waived and we were charged no extras. We purchased trip insurance, so here is my question... Are we entitled to the two lost resort days and 2 park hopper days that we purchased in our package? As you know, Sandy hit us head on and all the flights were cancelled for that day so we would not have gotten home and probably would have been stuck in Orlando a few days. I did enter a claim but just curious what the rest of you think?

If you are using the Disney Travel Guard policy, it reads: (b) Inclement Weather causing delay or cancellation of travel. Trip Interruption Benefits: The Insurer will reimburse the Insured up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule for Trips that are interrupted due to the Unforeseen events shown above: (a) forfeited, insured Trip Cost, and (b) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured, either (i) to the Return Destination; or (ii) from the place that the Insured left the Trip to the place that the Insured may rejoin the Trip; or (c) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to reach the original Trip Destination if the Insured is delayed, and leaves after the Departure Date. However, the benefit payable under (b) and (c) above will not exceed the cost of economy airfare or the same class as the Insureds original ticket less any refunds paid or payable by the most direct route. ----------------------------------------------------------------- There might be more, I didn't read the whole thing. You probably could get the room money back. The last 2 days on a park ticket aren't worth much.

I did read that but I dont know if that covers a hurricane in the home state and not the location where I was.... Oh well, I guess I'll wait and see. At least we got home safe.
