Going S/P/D and wanted input on Value vs. Moderate

I'm looking at the prices of Value and Moderate using the S/P/D discount. I will be with my wife, sister and sister-in-law. We will spending an inordinate amount of time at the parks, so the type of room probably doesn't matter much. I've read a thread about the differences room wise between moderate and value, and the bed size sounds nice (I'm 6'7") and just being in a nicer place seems cool.

The real deal is in the dining plan, though. With Value you get the QS and Moderate and up get the regular Dining Plan with TS. These are the prices I'm getting for our 6 day/5 night trip in January:

$2032.68 -- All Star Music
$2569.36 -- Carribean Resort

Is the $500 more worth it if the main reason I'm doing it is for the upgrade in the dining plan? The room would be only 15% of the reason I'd upgrade.

I would go with a moderate but not CBR, for the reason that like the values, CBR only has double beds. The other moderates have queen beds. PoR, POFQ, and CSR all have queens. If I had to share a bed with my sister in law, I'd want a queen, not a double. So to them the room may be a bigger deal!
I also prefer the TS dining plan.

For us, the extra $500 for a moderate would definitely be worth it for both the resort and dining plan. We've never stayed at a value, but we loved our stay at CBR. The rooms are larger, there are double vanity sinks, and the pool has a slide. As far as dining, we do a TS every night for dinner, so having the regular DDP would benefit us more than the QSDP as we would pay more than $500 for those 5 meals if we had the QSDP. I would definitely book moderate, because of the dining plan and because you're going to want bigger beds. It's already been stated, but CBR wouldn't be my pick because they still have double beds (not queen). You'll just have more space, too. The value rooms are teeny tiny and only have one sink. With four adults in one room, I would book moderate no question.

So which moderate are you going with? Our fav is the POR resort, in the mansion section, they have queen beds, a boat to DTD, horse & carriage rides, came fishing, evening entertainment (family type, appeals to all ages) and a great food court. Beautiful landscaping.

Now I have a follow up question based on your question: If I book a Value resort, can I choose the Deluxe Dining Plan? It sounds like that isn't an option?

Yes you can upgrade to the deluxe dining plan, you just have to pay an extra per person charge to do it, and you must add it to your package at least 3 days prior to arrival. If you change less than 45 days from travel, you may be subject to a change fee - usually they waive this, but not always. Best of luck!

I was thinking of going with Coronado Springs because it was the cheapest after Carribean, but then I checked and POR and POFQ are both only another $28 past that. I know that it's only $28, but if the quality is not going to change much (and like I said, we're going to be practically living at the parks) is it worth booking those instead?

If you are going to be living at the parks then I would go with whatever resort gives you the best transportation options. Whatever resort has the least crowded and most direct buses would be good ones to check out.

You will definately spend more than $500 on food between 4 people in 5 days on table service and not having as many children running around the resort is more relaxing. We did values when the our kids were small and then moved to moderates- never will we go back to a value- not even with our grandkids.

you can stay in the value and upgrade your dining. I do it all the time. i like the values. but quite honestly, for 4 adults i would go with a moderate. NOT CBR thou, no point going there since their beds are full size/same as values. Id go with either CSR or POR. My fave is POR because of the boat to DTD.

It realy depends on the themeing that appeals to you most. CSR is my favorite mod but I'm partial to them having 3 different themes. It's gorgeous. All 3 are nice though. POR and POFQ have boat transportation to Downtown Disney.

They all have queen beds. Coronado only has 1 sink, if that will make a difference to you? POR & POFQ both have 2 sinks. Having 2 sinks may be an advantage to you both in the morning and night.

POFQ is the smallest resort, so there you would avoid any potential long walks to main facilities of your resort. Other then these differences, if you won't be around to use the resorts activities, ie: boat to DTD, etc it wouldn't matter which resort.

If you know you want the regular dining regardless, just price out the package with value resort + regular dining. Compare the price to the moderate package and determine if the difference in price is worth it to go with the moderate.
