It is just my husband and I...no little ones...ours just turned 27 on the DCL Hawaii Cruise last month!! Guess what he got for his birthday!LOL!! Actually the stocking is larger than the FE! Don't know if you saw my response earlier...but we had some things that were too large to fit in the FE's for the kids and we just used plastic bags (like grocery..we actually used disney since we live here and accumulate those more than the grocery)! LOL!! and hung them on the "Fish" . Works fine.

Hello and welcome. What branch of military? We are an Air Force Family! You will LOVE the DCL ! There is a Pirates Night aboard where you can dress up if you should so choose...either all out or you can just use the bandana they give you. Fireworks are shot off at the end of the Deck party. Be sure to check out Castaway Cay too (Disney's private island) a day of relaxation...or adventures are offered for snorkling etc. And there is an adult only section....of course we can't forget the large BBQ lunch they provide on Castaway! You can check out what is available on the DCL site when you log into port adventures.

Also, there is a FE (Fish Extender) gift exchange should you wish to participate. You can go back a couple of pages to DVC Deernut and he gave a great description of what it is. Just email him or private message to let him know if you are interested.

We're retired Navy. I'm concidering the FE but honestly we just booked and really haven't had time to plan much. We're leaving the day after Thanksgiving to go to Cocoa for a week and really don't have much planned for that yet either. Then on to the cruise. Now I'm nervous. I usually spend months planning a cruise. I did try to check the port excursions but It's not showing anything except the dining. Guess I'm too late to book anything unless it's available on the shp. We'll probably go to the adult area of Coco Cay. Nassau will probably just walk around the port area.

GET THERE EARLY THEN YOU CAN GET UMBRELLA CHAIRS CLOSER TO THE ENTRY AND BAR AND BBQ AREA. NORMALLY YOU DONT GET MANY ON THAT BEACH, ITS LIKE YOUR OWN PERSONAL BEACH. MOST PEOPLE GO WITH KIDS ON THE CRUISE SO THEY STAY ON FAMILY BEACH. MMMMM BBQ MAHI MAHI AT ADULT BEACH

YOU JUST SIT IN THE WATER AND THE WAITER WILL BRING YOUR DRINKS TO YOU. THE RAYS SOMETIMES SWIM TO ABOUT 10 FEET FROM SHORE THERE EVEN THOU THE WATER IS ONLY A FOOT OR 2 DEEP. THEY ARENT DISNEYFIED LIKE THE ONES ON THE FAMILY BEACH STING RAY FEEDING AREA. YOU CAN WALK WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OUT. THERE IS A SPOT YOU CAN WALK OUT TO WHERE THERE ARE SUNKEN BOAT PARTS. THE FISH USE THAT AS A HOME. THE WATER STARTS OUT ABOUT WAIST DEEP BUT AS THE DAY GOES ON THE WATER RISES ABOVE YOUR SHOULDERS THERE. IVE HAD SMALL BLACK AND YELLOW STRIPED FISH NIBBLE ON MY LEGS

THE ODD BARRACUDA PASSES THRU THE ADULT BEACH AREA. YOU WILL SEE THE 5 FOOT SHADOW SWIM PASSED. LAURA AND I FOLLOWED ONE AND WATCHED IT GO BETWEEN PEOPLE WHO WERE STANDING IN 3 FOOT DEEP WATER AND NOT EVEN NOTICE IT SWIMMING PAST. JUST DONT WEAR ANYTHING SHINEY LIKE JEWELERY, THEY WILL GO FOR IT. IT CAN HAPPEN THAT A SMALL SAND SHARK SWIMS THRU. THAT BEACH AREA ISNT NETTED OFF LIKE THE FAMILY BEACH. BUT EVEN IN THE FAMILY BEACH AREA YOU SOMETIMES GET A SURPRISE

THIS PAST SEPT WE WERE SNORKLING ON THE FAMILY SNORKLE TRAIL, ALONG THE BOTTOM A 3 FOOT SHARK PASSED BY US. ITS COOL TO JUST FLOAT AND LET THE SCHOOLS OF THOSE YELLOWISH WHITE FISH SWIM AROUND YOU. THEY ARE VERY CURIOUS AT TIMES.

Wow that sounds heavenly! Hope I can rent snorkel gear there. I really did not like RCI private island in Haiti. The water was yucky and full of rocks. Kinda embarrssed eating in froont of the Haitians there too. Anyway sounds great. Is the Pirate ship from Pirates movie still there? I love the movies!

WE BRING OUR OWN SNORKLE AND MASKBUT YOU CANT RENT SNORKLE GEAR OR DO THE SNORKLE, FLOAT AND BICYCLE DEAL. USUALLY WHEN YOU SNORKLE ON THE FAMILY AREA ITS NOT VERY CROWDED. IN SEPT THERE ERE ONLY ABOUT 10 or 15 OF US OUT THERE AND ITS A BIG AREA. THE FAMILY BEACH ILL BE BUSY BUT ITS FAIRLY BIG AND THERE ARE 2 BEACH AREAS. ONE AREA HAS THAT NEW ATERSLIDE YOU SWIM OUT TO TO GO DOWN. ITS VERY SANDY THERE. DISNEY MAKES SURE OF THAT. BUT ITS A GOOD IDEA TO WEAR WATER SHOES. I WEAR MY OLD BLUE CROCS, CERTAIN FISH SEEM TO LIKE THEM THE ADULT BEACH ONCE YOUR IN THE WATER YOUR BETTER OFF WITH SOMETHING ON YOUR FEET. THERE IS EXPOSED CORAL AND THE BOTTOM CAN GET UNEVEN. THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE PIRATE SHIP. IT WAS DECAYING TO MUCH.

LAST YEAR WE SAILED THERE JUST MORE THAN A WEEK AFTER HURRICANE IRENE HIT THE ISLAND. THE ONLY WAY WE COULD TELL THEY HAD ONE WAS THE SALT WATER HAD BROWNED A LOT OF THE PLANT LIFE. SO I IMAGINE IT WILL BE THE SAME THIS YEAR AFTER SANDY.

Wow looks like this board has picked up.

When ever I come on here I feel like my head might explode from all the information.

I am a former cast member and crew, having a little mini reunion with 2 other crew members. Still getting used to the idea of cruising as a guest.

So it will be me (Vanessa) Julie in cabin 10062
and we are traveling with Kristen & Keira Cabin (?) Deck 2 I believe.

I sent a message for the FE but since I have never done this can someone give me an idea of what gifts usually are given. And are we assigned a cabin or do we give it to everyone on the list?

Looking forward to the trip. We are doing the parks before and after and are staying that the new Animation Hotel (Nemo Suite)

I just want to make sure I read it right, There is no formal night, so if you are eating int the dinning rooms you don't need a jacket. Am I right?

PirateBob a jacket is not required in the main dining rooms. I would suggest maybe a nice shirt and tie with slacks for our one "optional dress up" night. Otherwise the four night cruises are more casual. You will see people all over the spectrum. I tend to wear dresses to dinner just because it's fun to get at least a little dressed up.

Don't forget pirate night!

You give a gift to each person on the list
If there are 2 adults and 2 children in a room then you will give that many gifts for that room. I think we are at 26 adults and 12 Children
I am bringing an extra suitcase top carry all mine and of course the ones that come back with us....lol

Oh boy this is gonna be a ride pulling this one off.

Well as you all know Kaitlin and I are going on this cruise to celebrate being together for two years. Well that day is today and boy has it been difficult. That is because he present is the cruise but that's not till next month (that's the only time that worked for both of our schedules). So I got her a few other little things and preluded to a larger present later. She has been going crazy all day not knowing. So I had to give her busy work. I got a large poster board and made spaces on it like you would for hang man and gave her mixed up letters that spell out "Ultimate Orlando Vacation, I love you". And I said she had till thanksgiving to solve it

So that's where we are currently at... She is trying to wear me down into telling her. But even If she does wear me down or figures it out she's gonna think we are going to orlando.

I'll keep everyone updated.

I need to know what happens on pirate night. Do we dress up like pirates for dinner or just the party on deck? I'd feel dumb going to dinner that way if noone else did.

WE HAD SOMEONE BRING INGREDIANTS IN A PACKET WITH RECIPE FOR MARYLAND CRABCAKES FROM A COUPLE FROM MARYLAND. WE HAD SOMEONE FROM LONG ISLAND BRING A YELLOW PLASTIC DUCK HORN. THEIR HOCKEY TEAM WAS THE DUCKS. WE HAD SOMEONE FROM CHICAGO MAKE NICE CLOTH HANDLES TO VELCRO AROUND YOUR LUGGAGE BAGS TO MAKE THEM MORE VISIBLE. SINCE WE ARE FROM CANADA WE USUALLY BRING CANADIAN RELATED ITEMS. SOME BROUGHT DISNEY RELATED CANDIES FOR THE KIDS IN BAGS. GENERALLY A DOLLAR TO A COUPLE DOLLARS. IF YOUR CREATIVE YOU CAN MAKE YOUR GIFT. LAST YEAR SOMEONE MADE US A GLASS(plastic) CLEAR ROUND BALL ORNAMENT WITH FLORIDA SAND IN IT WITH A COUPLE TINY DISNEY ITEMS IN THE SAND. ITS NOT ABOUT THE VALUE ITS THE FUN OF FINDING SOMETHING IN YOUR FE WHEN YOU GET BACK TO THE CABIN.
