BEST excursion on Fantasy Eastern w/9yo?

I'm starting to get into planning mode for our March 2013 Eastern on the Fantasy. We were on the 4-night Dream in February, and had an amazing experience doing the Dolphin Swim at Blue Lagoon Island. I know my DD will remember it for the rest of her life. The problem is that I'm not seeing anything on any of the Eastern stops that looks like it will compare -- or not anything for my DD who will be 9yrs, 10mos old at the time, anyway. There are a few that sound great but are for ages 10 and up.

For those who have done this itinerary, are there any excursions, at any of the ports, that you would consider a CAN'T MISS? We will probably only book one excursion, so I want to make sure it's really great.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

If there is something you like but it is for 10 and up, see if you can book it privately or thru Shore Trips for a 9 year old.

Thanks, kcashner. I have been meaning to tell you that you have been very helpful to me numerous times on this board. Thank you!

I haven't heard of Shore Trips. Who/what are they?

Thanks for your kind words. Shore trips is a company that does excursions all over the world thru other tour operators (in the same way that DCL does). They use the top tier of providers and they do follow up with guests after their vacations to get feedback on the tours. They are a bit more costly than booking on your own, but generally less than booking thru DCL AND they use the requirements of the operator as to age, etc. rather than DCL's rules.

When you book, you get an on line confirmation that you will want to print out--it specifies exactly where to meet your "person." We've had great experiences with them. In one case, we were the only family booked for a tour so it became very customized for us. We booked all our Alaska excursions thru them and found them to be about 1/3 less than thru the cruise line.

I did have trouble booking on line the first time--a call to their 800 number fixed everything.

We loved this one, with DD11 and DD6. Saw turtles, rays, and mega fish.

This sounds interesting. How far is the Dubloon from the pier, and how do you get there? If DD does not want to snorkel the whole time, can we just hang out on the beach?

This excursion comes in 1/2 day and full day. We chose 1/2 day so we could actually step foot on St.Thomas and shop a bit. Can't use beach at turtle cove. National Park. Walk to boat 3/4 mile. Boat ride 40 minutes, snorkel 90 minutes, boat ride 40 minutes back, 1/2 day tour. Met onboard at 8am. Sailed at 9am. Back 12:30 - 1pm.

You can return to boat whenever you like.

This is the one I'm thinking of for my DS 6 as well. I think he'll love the "Pirate" ship and he loves anything that involves swimming.

I thought about the surf on in San Juan as well.
