My Target won't let me buy a Disney card with my Visa gift card.
But I can use the Visa gift card at the Disney store online site to buy Disney gift cards.

I had the same issues with a Wells Fargo gift card last week. I had enough points on my Wells Fargo Visa to exchange them for a $150 visa gift card. I planned to use the card for the international marketplaces at the food & wine fest. The card was denied everytime I tried to use it at WDW last week. I was not able to resolve the issue until I returned home. The bright side is I have $150 for a 2013 WDW vacation!

I used a Wells Fargo Visa gift card with a 2019 expiration date to pay for several meals and for souvenirs at Disney resorts and theme parks during our trip in June and had no problems whatsoever.

My DF mom loaned me five hundered for my plane ticket last year andi put it on a american express gift card and tryed to book a flight online and they wouldn't take it. I never understood why but i was able to book on another airline web sight. Gifts cards are some times more trouble than they are worth. But glad that you have everything done ad have a magical trip.

I know it's all been worked out now, and that this wasn't the only issue, but if it was? Just give them a different year for the expiration date. Same month, 2016, for example. Works more often than 9 times out of 10.

I never would have thought of that. Doesn't seem like it would work, but if it does, that's great!
I just wanted to pop in to say this isn't just a GC or a Disney problem. I think many companies limit the exp. dates you can enter, just to try to help people avoid picking the wrong date -- if you say your card expires in 2315, for example, you either entered/selected the wrong date, or you have a very trusting card issuer.
I ran into this problem last Spring, when I had a new regular credit card (not a gift card.) The issuer sent me my new card a month or so before the old one would have expired. I activated it, used it successfully, and shredded the old card. Sure enough, when I went to book a shore excursion with Carnival, I could not pick the year that my card expired. Their drop-down list would have worked if it expired a year sooner. I think I contacted Carnival and told them it was time to update their dates, and if I recall, the next week I went in and booked the excursion with that card.
Either that or I gave up and just used a different card. I have such a spotty memory!

Over the past several months, I have gone online to the Disney Store and purchsed a bunch of gift cards in large $$ format for our next vacation in June. This helped us save for the vacation and not spend the saved cash that was on hand. I've used Disney gift cards in the parks before, and had no problem with them at all.

My daughter received a $100 AE card as a 7th grade graduation gift. She decided to get a manicure at the BC/YC Perriwg salon. The total came to $95 including the tip. The clerk said she could not give change so my daughter was out $5. It wasn't a huge amount but if it happens often enough, that can add up to quite a bit of money. Since then, we have only used gift cards locally at merchants we know and trust.
