Is there a strict 9yo limit on kids' menus?

We have been to Disney World several times with our kids, but this is the first time with a 10 year old.

My 10yo son has a Sensory Disorder, and is an extremely picky eater. His main courses usually consist of chicken nuggets/strips, cheese quesadillas, or bacon. I have looked at all of the restaurant menus to find places that serve things he will eat, but most of the time, they are on the kids' menus.

Will there be a problem ordering from the kids' menu for him? He looks like he is 12 or 13, so I don't want to run into any sort of problem trying to order for him, but I know we will be extremely limited by restaurant choice if he has to order from the adult menu.

Thanks for your help!

I'm 23 and I normally order from the kids menu because the portions are smaller, he'll be fine ordering whatever he wants.

You may run into some issues if you are on the DDP, but if you are paying OOP, you should be fine.

At some restaurants, no problem. At others, maybe a problem, especially if you are on the dining plan.

As the child appears to have a medical condition, you can contact Special Diets or look for further information on the DisABILITIES board in order to help ensure your child is accommodated.

Our last 6 trips have been with a child over ten on the dining plan. Although she's classified as a Disney "adult" at that age, she orders off the kids menu every time. So far so good - we've never had a problem at any CS or TS restaurant. In most cases, they let her order off the kids menu but still pick her dessert from the adult menu. In her eyes, it's the best of both worlds!

We never have a problem at any of the places we have ever gone to. My 50 year old sister and I (47) always order kids meals unless we have the meal plan.

Thank you all so much!

His eating is the only issue he has, and as long as we can find chicken, we will be a-ok!

We haven't decided if we are doing the Dining Plan or not, since this was a major concern.

Thanks for the info!

We go through the same thing with a picky now 12 year old. For that reason we'll not do the dining plan. I won't pay $55.....whatever a day for kids meals. With doing the math we get more TS meals for all four of us vs equal CS/ TS. When people say they pay an adult price for them to order off the kids meal?? For me it would only make sense if the dining plan was free. If I figure what the dining plan costs( example us $1500) for 8 nights I can spend that much better with more TS. just something you may want to figure out for your family.

If you do go dining plan, a lot of places will give you bigger portions of kids meals of you ask :-) using adult dining credit.

I think it varies by location. Last year at CRT I paid $60 for chicken nuggets....... I tried to tell myself the photo package would have been $30, so that made them only $30. But it still makes me sick.

I order and even my 63 year old dad orders off the kids menu. So I say you will not have any problems.

We have the same issue with our son, he will only eat the "kid" foods. He is 11, and we ordered him kids meals at ALL the CS, but all of our TS were buffets, so he ate what he wanted. The buffets work best for us, because they ALWAYS have chicken nuggets or pizza. We did have an issue at Coral Reef, but they finally agreed to give him the kids meal (we were on the DDP). Now we pay OOP, no more DDP plan for us.(unless its free)
