10/20 Fantasy Course

Anyone else notice the course in this photo? The course throughout the rest of the cruise is straight as an arrow. However, where we hit the roughest seas it is wobbly. Is this due to the wind/seas pushing us about? Or course changes?

I'm also confident the captain and DCL would have never sailed into the seas we did had they know how rough it was going to be. They will be much more careful in the future when faced with this decision.IMHO

I think the person who drew the line on the map had had too many Bahama Mama's so their pen went wonky!
Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?!

Those maps usually aren't drawn by hand, but use the satellite pings from the ship to plot the course then a general algorithm to "smooth" the line. OP, I would say that yes, the area where the course isn't straight basically had pings that were literally all over the map, and this is the smoothest course the computer could pull from that.

The pink line was the planned course and the yellow line was the actual course taken. I think the variations are right where we started to hit the big waves after 12:00am and they probably needed to adjust course for conditions. The safest way to hit the big waves is to go straight into them.

We noticed that the also deviated from the pink planned course line on the way to St. Maarten and the kids were told by a CM that they changed course slightly to assure a little sunshine on the second sea day.
