40th Birthday trip - where to eat

My husband and I are taking our first trip to WDW without our 4DS in February to celebrate my 40th birthday. We are arriving in Orlando around 3pm on my birthday. We are staying at POFQ and are planning on going to the 9pm Cirque show. I can't decide where to have dinner! I currently have ADR for Rainforest Cafe, but we are using the dining plan and I have too many TS meals booked. I also have 50s Primetime, Coral Reef, Crystal Palace (breakfast), and Be Our Guest booked. I need to cancel one of them. Should I plan on maybe a QS meal in DTD instead of TS? Or is one of the other TS ADR a better one to cancel?? I have never stressed so much about a trip before! And this is supposed to be fun!

I'd cancel the arrival night TS meal. You are SUPPOSED to arrive in Orlando at 3pm. You MIGHT be checked in to your resort around 5 pm. Having an ADR early enough to be done with dinner and over at Cirque before 9 pm means you will be on a pretty tight schedule. You think you're stressing now? Wait until you spend the entire trip there stressing about that 15 minute weather delay on the plane, and then the traffic jam the ME bus is going to run in to, etc.

I don't like to make a first night dinner ADR unless I'm scheduled to arrive around lunchtime - and even then I'd think twice.

I agree with Quin! I'd cancel the first night ADR. You could get settled, head over to dtd and use a qs meal at Earl of Sandwich.

Sounds like a fun trip!!!

Thanks! I was thinking that I was pretty tightly scheduled on my arrival day. This is our first time staying on property so it is all (disney transportation, dining plan, etc) new to us. Now to find a QS place for my birthday...

People absolutely love Wolfgang Puck Express. It is qs but they serve your food to your table on real plates with silverware..

Wolfgang Puck Express is exactly where I was thinking. What is the difference between the two locations in DTD? Is one better than the other?

I believe the one in the Marketplace area (by the Lego store) is the preferred location with a bigger menu than the one on the West Side.

WPE is great. If you want more of a TS and pay oop. We like Paradiso or TRex. You can usually get into Paradiso w/o a ressie. TRex you can sit at the bar and eat/drink. This goes for RFC too. We are kinda in the same situation on our first day. Land at 3:30, takes an hour or more on ME. Check in probably close to 6pm by then. We will be at POR so we are heading to DTD. No Circ tho! Have a great Birthday and a great vacation!
