Daydreaming ~ Anyone else going in January?

Hello, Disney friends! This week, I received a pin for Free Dining in January, so we're thinking of taking a winter vacation to WDW ~ either the first week (January 2-7, hoping to catch a few Christmas decorations before they come down) or the end of the month for my birthday (1/31...#41). Flights from Indianapolis to Orlando seem to be a littler cheaper earlier in the month, as are the resorts.

I've read a ton on the Dis about lower crowds that time of year ~ if you can avoid the tour groups (but how the heck do you know when they're there?? ~ attraction closings (Splash Mountain), potentially cooler weather, shorter park hours, etc.

We usually go in late September, which is great for lower crowds. We've never been during the winter, but it sure would be great to get out of Indiana in January!

Anyone else planning a WDW trip this January?? I don't know if we'll have the money to go, but for now...I suuuuuuure to love daydreaming about it!!

We're going down Jan 3-9 to take DD to Disney College Program. She's going to be a Photopass photographer in the Spring session. So we're making a little mini vacation out of it. We always go in June, so this should be a change of pace. In the past 10 years I've never once brought a pair of pants or any kind of coat to WDW.

Going to see the Osborne Lights the first night there because they're coming down on the 5th from what I hear. Staying offsite because I got a good Mousesavers deal on a nice suite at lower cost than the Values with current promotions. Nice thing is we get to go down again in May to pick her up!

I like the idea of being close to the action
I had to buy another piece of luggage today and shoes and a floppy hat
The camping trip got a little hairy

Jan 2 to 7th. I was planning DHS for the 6th I guess I should move that if we plan to see the Osborne lights. We have gone for Christmas twice in recent years I'm looking forward to seeing the castle and being in awe of it. We were at WDW in the early summer and had not planned on going back until maybe 2014 We did DL at the end of the summer. My signature says it all. Happy planning.

Great pin

We are going 1/25-2/2 on the stay, play and dine. I received a pin for room only discount but would have LOVED free dining.

I don't know how or why, but we received a brochure in the mail with two pins ~ one for 35% off select resorts, various dates spread from January through September; and another for free dining January 2 - March 7.

Neither one are valid for stays at The Little Mermaid AoA resort...but I sure would like to stay there sometime!

I auditioned for a commercial yesterday ~ told DH if I get it, we're blowing it on a trip to WDW!

If not...we're also looking at next fall (our usual late September time)...OR maybe next winter. DH is dying to see the Christmas decorations. As of now, we have 975 Disney VISA reward points saved so far for either trip!

Enjoy your trips DisPals!

We will be getting away from the Indiana winter Jan. 13-18, staying at the WL. We have been to WDW probably 15 times during Jan. over the last 20 years. The crowds have been getting larger each year, but are still manageable compared to other times of the year.

Enjoy the trip.

We'll be at GF from 1/30-2/4. We booked the 35% room discount through the website. I just priced the free dining and it was very close, but for us I think the room discount will be a bigger savings. We'll see ... this trip I'm going to save all of our dining receipts and do study. Every year I struggle between free dining and the room discount!

We will be at WDW from 1/1 to 1/5 and are staying at AoA - Finding Nemo suite. I am excited to stay there!

We went to WDW during Christmas week last year. After that trip, I said "never again would I go to WDW during the holidays!" But we decided to go back for New Year's week which will hopefully be a slightly less busy week!

I can hardly wait for our trip!

Just be aware that MANY schools are not back in session till Jan 7th, which may mean heavier than normal crowds.Tour Groups generally come in the 2nd week in Jan and are there thru the beginning of Feb

DS and I are going January 2-8 staying at POP! Just finalized our plans and looking forward to it. It was a great deal with free dining and I was able to book flights at a reasonable rate. We've been a number of times and are planners, so I'm not too worried about elevated crowds. This was the only time we could make it happen when DS would only miss two days from school and still make it a worthwhile trip.

Yay! We will be at Pop Jan 22-30! Got the stay/play/dine deal (hoping for FD pin of course) and are considering upgrading to regular dining. We've been in January before and were surprised at how cool the mornings were! Hopefully we will have some nice mild temps - but warm enough to swim!
