Dh's 3rd interview is done! My stomach is in knots and it isn't even my internship! LOL
He thinks it went well but since it was over the phone there is no way of knowing their reactions to anything he said, yk? I told him as long as he gave it his best shot that's all he can do. ![]() I've got everything crossed that he gets this though.

Hello fellow Disney professionals interns and applicants!!
My name is Morgan and I am a current graduate student at the University of Florida. About a month and a half ago I applied for a PI in Accounting and Finance. After two phone interviews and one in person interview at UF's graduate career fair I was offered the internship! The most intense of the 3 interviews had to be the third, but I am happy to say that I received my offer a little over 3 weeks ago!!! Good luck to all of you still going through the process if you would like some advice let me know I am willing to help ![]() I am not really too sure how to post a new thread so I am going to post my question on here, I apologize!! So my question is for the PI's that already received their offer... How many of you are going to take advantage of the corporate housing and are any of you not? I have decided to not take advantage of the corporate housing offered due to the fact I have a dog and also because I didn't like having an actual "room" mate in college and I would prefer not to try it again. I don't mind having a roommate in my apartment, but having someone in my actual room with me is not ideal. SO I have decided to find an apartment in the Lake Buena Vista or Davenport area during Spring 2013. I was just wondering if any of you have also decided against corporate housing and if so have you found anything yet? I have been looking on Craigslist, but it's not going as well as I planned, so I was going to try to find something by myself or with other PI's! Does there happen to be a thread on this topic or am I in the right area? Thanks!!

I had my second interview just a little while ago for HRIS Call Center. There is only one spot open and there are five people waiting to hear. I mostly did my best. There was point towards the end where I started to wish I had more time to sell me, so I pushed some other stuff about me into the conversation. Reflecting now, I sounded needy. At least I can say that I gave honest answers and didn't stumble anywhere. IF I not the one...well I still get to go as a CP.
![]() Of the five I applied for, two are currently interviewing applicants (but not me), one interview today and two others that I have not heard anyone report interviews yet so there is still hope for those too. At least we can all wait together. It makes it just a bit better to know that my feelings of impatience and irrational hope, at the same time, are the same as all of you!

On Facebook there is a PI group. I belong, but never post. However it has been a wealth of information. In the files is a list of apartments, their websites and expected rental rates. I think is this exactly what you need. Just search for Disney Professional Interns Spring 2013.
I am older than the rest of you, and frankly don't like the idea of a "room" mate. I am not against sharing an residence, just a bedroom. I am seriously considering living elsewhere too. In addition to the list I mentioned above, I signed up for roommates.com and saw a lots of opportunities. It is too early to commit to anyone on the site because most of them were looking for someone right away. But just looking gave me real hope that I will find something. Quote:

My DD applied August 28 for an Educational PI. She hasn't heard anything yet. The only thing she knows is that this group is the last ones chosen. She also knows 1 person has been picked. I was wondering if anyone here has applied for the Educational PI and heard anything. Congratulations to all those who have made it.
I know this will be the experience of a lifetime for you!Oh yeah, and hears a little pixie magic for those still waiting

As for housing, there are many PIs that do not use the housing. I agree that the facebook group is a good place to look. I found the best thing was to actually go to Orlando and look!! Take a weekend (do your research before hand) and visit LOTS of places! As you are in Gainesville this should be doable and it is totally worth the effort! Congrats again!!

I've browsed apartments near Disney on 2 different occasions and going to the properties, talking to the staff, seeing the apts, has made all the difference. I toured 3 complexes yesterday and it has narrowed down my housing decisions completely. I only toured a total of 5 because honestly those 5 were the only ones I was even considering because of location/price range. I'll give a brief review for the ones I've seen. Cagan Crossings - I actually really liked this place. Good location as far as being surrounded by stuff (Walmart, Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, etc.) and it is a newish community so everything feels/looks super nice. The office staff was great and the various communities within Cagan offers good options as far as price ranging. However, for my preference, it's a little too far out from Disney. If you have traffic patience/gas money, then whatever, move that far out. Some people don't even think it's far. Alexandria Parc Vue - Location is okay, although I wouldn't prefer being on that side of the 535 area. The traffic congestion near Cross Roads is a little too much for me. The office staff was ok, not great. The actual property itself did not have a newish/luxurious feel. The buildings look a little older, so does the leasing office, etc etc. Abaco Key - The woman who was speaking to me was acting like a used car salesman attempting to get me to sign now because they are always full and there's a waiting list, blah blah blah. I didn't appreciate that. Location wise, it's near Parc Vue so my feelings are the same on that. The apts look nice from the outside, but I was extremely unimpressed with the inside. They felt old, the ceilings felt very low (i know that sounds weird), there was no counter space in the bathroom, little storage space in general/small closet. Pool wasn't impressive. Bella - The concept of this place is great. They really are a luxury community. The pool is fabulous, the jogging trail has special rubbery bouncy mulch on it, the clubhouse is beautiful, the gym is great (technically 2 gyms), they offer free fitness classes to residents, the buildings have elevators, the apartments are gorgeous inside (GREAT walk in closet, nice sized bedroom, pretty bathroom but little counter space, nice kitchen, built in desk in kitchen, etc), and very large patio areas. The location is doable although not the closest to Disney (I just really don't like the road it is off of with all the traffic lights and stuff haha personal preference). My only qualm about this place is the pricing. It is already pricey for monthly rent, but this place tacks on fees anywhere they can. I forgot all the additional fees she told me about, but I know for a fact that depending on what floor you're on, there is an additional fee. It's like an extra $20 per month to be on 1st floor, an extra $40 to be on fourth floor. Then if you wanted an apartment with all tile floors throughout, that's extra. There were more extra fees too (I just forgot them). Cumberland Park - Location is great. Right across from CP Housing (Chatham Square and Patterson Court). Beautiful clubhouse. They have an indoor basketball court, nice gym, and game room. The feature that really struck me is their movie theater. It is absolutely precious. It looks like a real movie theater and they show movies in it every Thursday night. Pretty neat. They have a beach style entry pool. Their apts have screened in patios. The apt floor plans are really nice. I read some reviews online though that they were having crime problems? Whattt? Personally, I've narrowed my choices down to Cumberland Park and Bella. Bella is a bit more pricey and I'm unsure how I would handle all those fees, but I really liked those 2 complexes.

Congrats on your internship!! I too am a little older than most the other interns, so that is also a great reason for me to look for other housing... also I have used easyroommate.com before as well when I went on study abroad, but sometimes I find those sites to be more work than they should be. If you have any luck or more suggestions let me know Thanks again!

Do you have any advice for the internship? Also did you or any of the other PI's you worked with get a full time position after? Yes Gainesville is very close to Orlando, but I am actually living in Orlando with my parents while I finish my thesis this semester. However, I want to move as soon as I can! They live in the perfect area, but being that I haven't lived with them since I was 18, it's not that appealing so I want to move as soon as the internship starts. I have looked at a few apartments now, but the biggest problem is that some of them don't offer short term leases. At this point I think I would have better luck with just finding some roommates, but then the problem about me having a dog arises. Good thing is that I still have 2 months so I am hoping to find something soon Thanks!!!

While looking did you find any that offer a Disney cast member discount? I know that a lot of the apartments in the area offer it, but I was just wondering what kind of discounts they give! Thank you soo much for everything!!! |

Everywhere I went, I told them about being a cast member and some piped up with discount information and some didn't. I'll assume those that didn't don't offer a discount. Abaco Key and Cagan Crossings had a discount but only on application/deposit fees. Bella has a 3% discount on rent for cast. That's all I know of.
I also wanted to say that I really really really wanted to live at Victoria Park just from looking at their website. But then I realized that the one bedrooms only have walk in showers and no bath tubs which I simply cannot live without so I gave up that dream might be perfect for you though if you only like showers!

To people who have gone through that final Retail Management PI interview -
What was the response/last words of your interviewers? Mine said that I should be getting call within 2-3 weeks. I thought though that if you're rejected, they don't call, just email. I'm not naive enough to believe that they were telling me I did well and that I'd probably get it. They can't do that and plus they still had interviews to conduct, thus more people to examine and see if they were better than me! I just wonder if they're saying that everyone receives calls - rejected or not. Or maybe they meant IF offered the PI, you'll receive a call. Basically, it wasn't the response I was expecting. What did you all experience?
