Sorry if the title is confusing. What I am trying to figure out is how photopass works for people who did not purchase a photopass package before their trip and don't plan on purchasing a package after they return. i received my resort package ("mickey mail"), and in that package we got a photopass card. it says to register it online before our trip and to hand it to photopass photographers throughout our trip. i had never even heard of photopass until i joined this site, so i am still a little lost with the whole thing. also, the card i received is paper, can i turn it in at my hotel's front desk for a plastic card?
i am curious because we might decide we like one or two pictures and want to buy them later (especially since we'll be at MNSSHP). if someone can give me the rundown of photopass for those who have not purchased it, i would really appreciate it! TIA!

At each park there are photopass photographers all around waiting to take your picture at the hot spots. You just hand them your photopass card and they scan it so that the pictures they take are associated with that card---like a credit card. When you get home or at any guest relations you have so many days to view the photos associated with that card on-line. You can buy as many or as few as you want. I usually just get a couple and then add a border on the website. They take your cc for payment and mail you the pics.Photopass CD puts them all on a CD for you--you get the rights to use the photos (not copyrighted) and can order any number of products with those photos...scrapbook, etc. Disney photos are expensive so I have always had to be very selective. Like $12.99 for 2 4x6. I ordered the pre-paid package one time--we only took about 3 photopass pics--totally not worth the money for me--and it was very difficult getting my money back...took about two weeks. During MNSSHP and MVMCP, they will take your pic witk the card and then you have the option of Halloween or Christmas borders when you get home. Very cute. I think there is a site called www.stichkingdoms.com....or something and he goes over photopass in detail including border options they may be currently offering. |

SO if you do not purchase a package you just ask the phtographer for one and he gets one out, scans it and takes your pic. You hold on to that card and use it over and over again with each picture. Take a photo of the card with your camera or phone in case you loose it so you will have the number to review the pics. Any guest services can bring up tthe photos for you to review right there...or you just wait until you can go on-line to look at them. You go to the photopass website and enter your card's number after setting up an account--it may take a minute but all your photos will be there. No question is stupid on the DIS...hope this helps. |

and i agree that we didn't think it would be worth the price to pre-order photopass; i just wasn't sure if i could still partake in photopass without a package. thanks!

raraavis you can use the one that came with your package. When you get home just log onto PhotoPass and enter the number on the PP and then you can view your pictures.

Even if you don't think you will order many pics, it may be worth it to just preorder the CD. The prints are pretty pricey to order individually. We have always preodered in the past, but for whatever reason we didn't last month. I ordered 11 pics when we got back and it came to $119. The same price as the CD preorder

We have never purchased the cd but always use photopass. When we get home I go to the site and edit my photos then I order the calendar and fill it with the pics we like and give it to DH as a gift each Christmas. You can put 1 or 2 pictures on each month of the calendar and that is usually about all the photopass pics I have taken. Last year I ordered him a water bottle with his favorite pic from the trip on it.

we don't purchase the package but use the photopass. sometimes we end up with more than one photopass per trip if we get separated. when we get home we log in and look at the photopass and decide what we want when we get home. We have one CD out of all the trips. Once we did not get any photos. They will send you an email reminder that the photos will expire if you are registered, so you have some time to decide.

I would pre-order the CD. The minimum you'll pay for each photo is $14.95, so it doesn't take many to get to the pre-purchase price. You can get a refund if you don't feel that you got enough photos to justify buying the CD. It's better than kicking yourself later because you could have saved $50.

The calendar is still listed on their site for $24.95. If you put 2 pics per page and 1 on the cover you can get 25 pics on the calendar for $24.95.
