I appologize if mine was one of those that sounded preachy. Was just something bothering me about the negativity about kids who happen to be picky eaters.

First, what's with all the judgemental attitudes about what other people feed their children? Just like it's not the business of New York City to tell someone how much pop they should drink, it is not my business to tell someone what to feed their children.
There is zero wrong with a nitrate-free, preservative-free, kosher all-beef hot dog. And if that's what my child eats every day, it's no one's business. My kids never had to eat what the adults were eating if they didn't want it. Why? Because that can also create food problems down the road as I personally well know. My oldest would have eaten anything on that menu except the turkey meatloaf when he was younger. My youngest would have eaten anything except the turkey meatloaf and vegetables. He didn't like vegetable and I didn't make him eat them. But he loves them now! My granddaughter would eat anything on the menu except the turkey meatloaf. The turkey meatloaf looks terrible although it may taste good. We use ground turkey frequently and like it better than ground beef sometimes...depends on the recipe. |

The children's (adult one too) menu looks great to this parent. But I would not be making ressies for a restaurant where my children would not eat the food. There are too many other places to choose from, not to mention lots of people waiting for any cancelled ressies for BOG.

With that being said, Are there any vegetarian options? My dd loves shrimp, but oddly has problems with meat that has a stringy texture. I wish she did not.. But two food therapists later.. It is what it is. Thanks! |

I think the menu looks great. The pics aren't THAT bad, except for the meatloaf one. It just looks like normal stuff most people would serve for supper. I do wish Disney would have healthier options in ALL the restaurants, and not just for kids. Some of the adult menus are super sketchy as well.

I think the question is would the adults at the table be happy to eat those meals if the meals were brought out to them (in bigger portions of course). Maybe if I was doing the Atkins diet at home. But on vacation? No way. Those meals would all be sent right back. They don't look seasoned or flavorful.
Kids are on vacation too. Save the bland chicken breast and broccoli for home.

Ok-so let's turn this thread around- many agree- pbj and nuggets should not be the only options at DW for kids but many also agree the choices presented at be our guest for kids are also not 'good' or 'appetizing'...SOOOO if YOU had to create a kids menu for be our guest- what would you put on it?
I'd put the standard nuggets as an option, I'd keep the steak and the chicken and perhaps throw some sort of carb- like a baked potato instead of just veggies on the plate. I'd keep the veggies but add a carb too. I also like the fish option- I'd keep that too. dump the meatloaf yuck.

Does anyone know if the QS lunch will be soft opening soon with the rest of FL?
We have two DDs...the older would LOVE this sort of menu. My younger one has sensory issues from a condition she has had since birth but we are making a lot of progress in trying healthy foods. We talk about healthy foods daily and have been making real progress. She asked for seconds on broccoli tonight...a major win! Anyway, I thought maybe she might try something new in Belle's restaurant since she loves Belle.

I don't think I would change the menu. Someone mentioned carbs (most of the meals do have carbs anyway), but it says on the menu that you can request fries. It would be perhaps better for kids to have the option to choose which two sides they wanted. Looks like the sides are fries, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peach applesauce, green beans, cucumber sticks, grape tomatoes, macaroni, and rice. I don't see anything weird there. My kids were eating all that stuff from a very young age.

I personally love the kids menu. My girls love steak, pulled pork and eat tons of grilled chicken. The pictures do look a bit gross though so I am waiting to see people's live reviews to reserve judgement. Disney though didn't seem to do so well with healthier options in the past. DD#1 on her 1st trip loved grilled chicken and at that time disliked chicken nuggets. The grilled chicken with pasta was inedible. It was very dried out, stringy when I cut it for her. I tried it 2x and it was no better. So I hope this won't be that way.
