Last Minute Questions - DME, MHSSHP, Caribbean

Hello, we are leaving on Sunday for what will be our daughter's first Disney trip. We'll also be celebrating her 5th birthday while we're there. I feel like I'm pretty well prepared (then the next minute I don't ) but have a few last minute questions.

1) Would it be in our best interest to pack a change of clothes in our carry-on bag? Is it likely that the luggage (from DME) will take a while to arrive at the hotel this time of year or is it likely it'll be there by the time we're checked in? I'm thinking I should at least pack my daughter's bathing suit, etc.

2) Will my daughter feel really left out if she doesn't have a costume for MNSSHP? The day of the party will also be her birthday and I have a cute outfit for her to wear that day. I didn't necessarily want to schlep a costume around the park all day (not sure if we'll go back to the hotel before the party) but if the majority of kids are dressed up, I don't want her to feel like she's missing something.

3) For those with experience with the Caribbean Beach Resort, how accommodating are they to special requests? I've planned a few things for my daughter throughout the week but would really like some kind of cute birthday breakfast for her that I could go pick up and bring back to the room while we get ready to go to the MK and give her a few gifts, etc. Do you think they'd do something like that?

1. Yes, you need to take a change of clothes in your carry on. It might take a bit of time for luggage to arrive at your room. Also, depending on what time you arrive, your room might not be ready (check in is around 3pm). I'd hate to have to dig through my bag in the lobby. Same thing with my park bag (if you plan on heading straight to the park)- completely packed and ready to go!!

2. While I haven't been to MNSSHP, I have been at Disney during that time (we just didn't want to buy tickets for the event). Most of the kids (and quite a few adults) we saw heading into the park for it had on costumes.

3. Make sure to get your DD a birthday button- you can get it from any guest services location. I'm not sure what they'll do at breakfast if you're just picking the food up and taking it back to the room. If you have ADRs for other meals that day or any other time during the week call the dining hotline and let them know it's her birthday. Rumor is they will sometimes decorate the table and will bring them out a free cupcake. We're headed to WDW in Nov. for my DD's 5th birthday as well.

2) You can rent a locker to store your costumes at MK. That's what I did for my dds princess dresses got Cinderellas Royal Table.

It's always a good idea to have at least one change of clothes in your carry-on luggage, just in case someone spills on the plane or if the airline misplaces your checked bags. My daughter suffers from car sickness and occasionally air sickness (although some flights she's perfectly fine, others not so fine) so we always take multiple outfits in the carry-ons for everyone.

We went to MNSSHP on Mon. 10/8. I rented a locker. I believe it was $10 plus a $5 deposit you get back once you return your key. The lockers are to the right side of the park just after you go through the ticket line and just before you enter the park. The locker worked out well. It was hot and humid all last week. My kids said that they enjoyed wearing their costumes but they wouldn't do it again in the heat. So, hopefully, you DD's costume isn't too heavy. My sons' costumes weren't too heavy but they did have long sleeves.

I am a local resident and we went to MNSSHP last year and are returning this Thursday for the party. YES ALL the kids are in costume, at least at first. It's so fun! Most adults have them well until they get chilly. I think the low is about 65-68 this week. have fun!
