My DH swears that the last little bit of soap isn't as soapy as the rest of the bar and refuses to use it, he throws it away. He is nuts if you ask me! I just stick it to the new bar.

I just use it up. When it gets to the sliver stage, I grab a new bar and finish the old bar up and then move on to the new.

My dad used to collect the old bars of Sweetheart soap at our motel (eww) and cut them down and then run them through a grinder and put into a round mold of some sort and he'd use them. They looked like a big rice cake! Anyway, too gross for me to use someone else's soap even though he trimmed around on them. He could not bear to waste all that soap, lol

Now, I think there is a "business" that collects used soap from motels/hotels and does this sort of thing and sends them to country would are thrilled to have any soap at all. Great thinking on someone's part!!

Me, too. Works with Dove soap (or any soap, I'd image).

We are not body wash kind of people. We like the traditional bar of soap, so with a family of four we end up with a lot of extra soap that you can't really use once you get down to the last little bit of the bar. I'd like to be able to use it up somehow instead of just throwing it away.

Any ideas?
when you get down to a sliver of soap, get out a new bar, wet both the sliver and the bar and stick the sliver on top of the bar and squeeze them together. Let them dry, and then just use it like normal. The sliver will stick on top of the bar.

Exactly! Can't remember when the last time was that I threw one out.

He's correct but it is because there isn't as much surface area to draw from. Welding it to a new bar fixes that problem instantly.

The old bar needs to be on the thin side. When it is wet it will bend a little and not break. You just find the flattest spot on the old bar and when everything is wet you press it on the flattest part of the new bar. Usually if it sits overnight it will be permanently part of the new bar until it has warn off. Sometimes it takes more than one try, but it does work very well.
