3rd week of February crowd levels high?

Hello Disney Fans,

Our son will be entering University in the Fall of 2013, so DW and I have already discussed the possibility of a February 2014 visit during his university "spring break" week. If we were to go this upcoming February, it would have been February 16th to 23rd that we would have gone. We are from Toronto, Canada, and cross over to our great neighbours in Buffalo to fly out of on all our previous Disney Trips.
Looking at this week for Feb 2013, touring plans has crowd levels at 9 and 10 out of 10, and flight prices are $300-$400 more round trip than what we are used to paying.
Are most US Colleges on Spring break this week as well? Is that why flight prices out of Buffalo are so high?

Any feedback if this a yearly thing for the 3rd week of February.

If I'm not mistaken, this is President's Day week and it can be very crowded that week.

It is President's week and I think a lot of Northeastern schools have the whole week off.

We live in NY - on Long Island- and all of the public schools are off for the week.

Our kids are usually out for a long 4 or 5 day weekend during that time and that's usually the time we go to Disney. We have decided to go a little early next year so we don't have to deal with the 9 and 10 level crowds that you mention. They will miss a couple more days than usual but I want to do one year without the crowds.

If you could move your trip up a couple weeks you should have lower crowds, but don't let the crowds worry you to much, use fast pass and you can avoid long wait times.

Even just one week prior (going into Presidents Day weekend, rather than the week of Presidents Day itself) will have lower crowds during the week at least.

As others have said, it's President's Day week, and most schools are off. This past February we went the 13-19. President's Day was the 20th. Crowds weren't too bad up until the 17th (Friday before President's Day) and then it started to become a mad house!

Feb 22-24 is the Disney Princess Marathon events, so it will be crowded then, too.

Almost all Buffalo schools are off Presidents Week(at least the suburban ones), the airlines know it, and jack their prices up because they know travel will be up.
