Starboard or port side? First time cruiser

Hello everybody! We are sailing on the Fantasy's first halloween trip on oct 27th. We booked stateroom 8108 which is port side but since this is our first cruise ever, I was wondering what's the difference between sides. Which side do you prefer and why? I can change the stateroom if starboard side is better.
BTW, we are doing the western itinerary. Thanks!

We just got of the western Fantasy. We were starboard 8560. I loved our room. We were mid ship, close to elevators, easy up to 11(pools) and easy down to 5(Oceaneers) I love being starboard because of the view of Castaway Cay!

We just got off Fantasy and we were port side. We got a view of Cuba on the way to Grand Cayman. We also had better views in port at Costa Maya and Cozumel. Starboard side had a better view of Castaway Cay. We didn't spend enough time in the room for it to matter.

I didn't love being on Deck 10, as I thought there was a bit too much noise from the pool deck above us.

We were also port side and I made sure to view Cuba from our verandah!

Here are responses to the same question I posed a couple of months ago...
