Which do I give up?
We are going with the DDP, 6night/7day trip. This is the list of restaurants I want to try out. With the Backyard BBQ being two credits I need to cut one out and switch to and extra QS one day. I just don't know which to do. I'll be travelling with a 10year old DD, 4 and 2year old DS's and a picky DH. Reccomendations??
Coral Reef Restaurant Restaurant at Epcot® Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant Restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park T-REX®, A Prehistoric Family Adventure Restaurant at Downtown Disney® Area Chef Mickey's Restaurant at Disney's Contemporary Resort Be Our Guest Restaurant Restaurant at Magic Kingdom® Park Mickey's Backyard BBQ---2points Restaurant at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort |

The atmosphere at Coral Reef is great, but the food is only so-so IMO. That might be the one to change...

Unless DD is super into dinosaurs - really, really LOUD dinosaurs - I'd drop T-Rex. Cute but not pure "Disney" cute, and the noise might even be a problem for the 2 year old.

I would drop yak & yeti. id opt for restaurants that are more unique. yak & yeti isn't that unique food wise and atmosphere wise. but trex is. Theme is amazing and the menu and food are good. I wouldn't ditch this one. btw as far as noise goes, its not that bad as long as you don't get a table inside the ice room. its a lot of fun even to watch the ice room change colors from a distance.

I have to agree with PP and I would get rid of T-Rex. There is nothing that special about it... it is a chain restaurant. The food at Yak&Yeti is much better than T-Rex. While the atmosphere is nice I would still get rid of that.

I would drop T-Rex. It was nice, but not very Disney and the food was just like any other chain (reminds me of Rainforest Cafe). Plus you have to leave a park and head to downtown Disney.

If you wanted to keep all of them, I would suggest just ordering appetizers to share at T-Rex, OOP. As others have stated, the food isn't super fantastic, but the atmosphere is cool for kids. That is what we did, back before TRex was included in the DDP. That is, if doing so wouldn't be a budget-breaker.
Otherwise, I'd probably suggest Yak&Yeti be dropped, looking at the kids ages! (Incidentally, Y&Y is the only one of the list we haven't done, so take that with a grain of salt!) |

I'd knock out T-Rex, as said above, it's not "Disney"..you can go inside and take pics of the aquariums but I've heard the food isn't all that

Lol I'd love to knock out TRex, as I figured it was the same as Rainforest Cafe, which we go to once/year anyhow. I'm going to see what else I can swap, if DS1 will agree. Either way I ended up taking out the Backyard BBQ instead. Watching the youtube and seeing the crowds I know DH would hate it, and reading the reviews that its hard to get close to the characters. I'm going to try for breakfast at 'Ohana's instead. Plus that still leaves the extra credit so I can fit all my other options. |
