Which is better Xaret Eco or Xel Ha Park? - The DIS Discussion Forums

We have a group of 4 adults and 3 children.. Children are all girls.. ages 7, 8 & 9. Trying to decide which excursion we should do in Cozumel? Any suggestions?

We've done Xel Ha years ago during an all inclusive visit to the Riviera and it was great. Beautiful place. I know nothing about the other place but based on my experience at Xel Ha - I don't have a problem recommending it. If anyone ever has a chance to go to Tulum. Go. Incredible views.

Where is Tulum and how can you go there? is it related to Xel Ha?

I've never been to either. You might want to check out the Port of Call board at Cruise Critic for info. Here are several threads I found searching Xcaret:

Tulum are ruins that are south of Xel Ha. Probably not the best idea if you have younger kids.

We were at Xel Ha a couple of months ago and it was AWESOME for people of all ages, kids included. Water activities, restaurants, lazy river, zip line, dolphin swim....
I haven't been to Xcaret, but after studying both, we chose Xel Ha.

We did xcaret with our kids and they loved it! It's beautiful & there is a lot do do and see.

I went to both when i was about 12. For the ages you have, Xcaret hands down.

The Disney cruise line site doesn't give an option for my kiddos...they are 7,8&9. I can't remember exactly but I think xcaret was 10 or 12 and up.... that's why I was thinking other....hmmmm can they do xcaret?

Xcaret has more land based activities; Xel-Ha is all about the water - snorkeling, tubing down a river, etc. Their web sites are here:

Only you can really decide which your family would prefer. Both are great in their own ways. I will add, if you decide to do Xcaret, it always seems super hot so bring plenty of water to drink.

I've done both and far preferred Xel-ha. It was cleaner and more relaxing. My favorite part was biking up the river, then tubing back. They had cliff jumping along the way. The snorkeling was fun too.

we are doing Xcaret. (e leave this Friday) I have not been to either but my parents took my brother when he was younger and they LOVED it. Mom came back wishing she would have taken me and my other brother (we were in college).

DH & I did Tulum back in April. There's no way you can go to two places in one day,nor would you want to. Although the water/beach/views at Tulum are breathtaking,I would take the kiddos to Xel ha & let them have a fun day doing water activities.
