Mixing ROOM ONLY with a Package

Hello,

I have decided to try something a bit different for our upcoming 5 night stay in February.
We will not be arriving until after 7pm the first night .... then we have a 1pm flight home our last day.

So, with the Disney Visa Discount, I booked 1 Night Room Only, 3 Nights Package with Dining and 4 Day ticket, and then 1 Night Room Only. Doing it this way (instead of 5 nights package) saved almost $300. Yes, we will have to buy some food out of pocket - but we will save in the tips that we would hve given for the Full Service meals, too.

A few questions ....

1) At Checkin - When will I be able to get my park tickets? Is it after midnight on the day my package starts?

2) Same with the re-usable mug that comes with the dining plan?

3) Will I be in the same room? I made sure I booked the same category for all three reservations.

4) Dining Plan - If I understand correctly, a 3 Night dining plan is good for 4 days? (including the day you check out?) This is important, as I booked dinner in Norway for our fourth day in the parks.

My husband thinks I am nuts for making this "so complicated". But, I want to make sure I made this trip economical so I can go again next year!

Thanks as always,
Catrin

1. You can request to have access to your tickets up to 3 days before your package starts, so you'll be able to use the tickets from your package when you check into your first r/o res if you'd like.

2. You will not be able to obtain the mug from the dining plan until your package starts, nor will you have access to the credits of the dining plan.

3. They will do their best to keep you in the same room, and you should call Disney to make sure it is noted on the reservations that they are carrying over. No guarantees on that though.

4. The dining plan will give you credits based on 3 nights. If you're doing the regular DP, you'll get 3 tb meals, 3 qs meals, and 3 snacks. The credits do not expire until midnight of your checkout date, so you'd be able to use credits for breakfast that day as long as you have some left.

Also it's likely you won't be able to pick up your tickets at the resort. You usually have to go to guest services at a park or DTD to get your tickets early. Sometimes when your pkg is at the same resort there's been instances they have them there but be prepared to pick them up at the park just in case.

Are you planning a park day on your arrival day?

I kind of agree with your DH lol you will have to check out/check in each time your reservation is changing. I think RO on your arrival day isn't a bad idea but I would have just kept it a pkg instead of RO on the last day. Depends where you are staying if the discount was worth it to me.

We are staying at POP. We will NOT be going to a park on the arrival day, but we want to go to EMH at MK the very next morning. I do not need the tickets EARLY, but I do need them first thing that morning, if that makes sense. I do not mind checking in and checking out - but as long as I can do it super early so we can make EMH!!

So.. I guess my question is bit simpler... what is the EARLIEST you can check in to a resort?
Thanks

That seems like a lot of hassle. I booked a package for 8 nights with a room discount. They just took the discount off of the room only. Dd you try pricing that out?

Between 6 and 7 AM. You're actually preregistering, but in your specific case, where you ideally won't need to change rooms, you should be fine.

Factor into this plan a worse case scenario - and what you will do if you in fact have to move rooms between your room only and the start of your package. I guess you can either head back from EMH @ MK before check out time (11 am) stash your luggage @ bell services and then head back to MK until room 2 is available & check in time for room number 2 (3 pm) or check out of room 1 early am when you pick up your park tickets before EMH and stash your luggage @ that point if you are moving rooms.

I've had room only reservations for the first night many times and have never had to switch rooms. I think as long as you are booked in the same category there would be no reason to have you switch rooms.

That being said, there is still a possibility. But this should help
