It's real for me...

When I'm on my way to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. It's about a 1 - 1.5 hr drive to the airport from my house so it got real (only 1 trop under my belt) for me when I attached the luggage tags to my suitcases before heading out the door to drive to drive to the airport.

Real for ME!

I'm from Northern Alberta - point one... Disney is just incredibly far away. It is real for me from the day of booking, however with many others out there the excitement grows and grows and GROWS until you reach the first park!
It becomes the most real on the way to the airport and getting on the plane. But it is real already and I'm still 217 days out!

For me it's not real until I walk through the resort doors. Everything else is great and makes me really anxious but even standing in the parking lot waiting for everyone to get out of the car isn't good enough. When I step through the doors into the lobby and feel the "Disney Air" I just kinda let go of everything. Then it is real.

Somewhere between putting the tags on my checked bag and when the ME video starts. Even standing in the ME line, it's so fun to watch all the excited people (especially kids) waiting to go to the World.

This may sound funny, but it's a lot of little different things.

I just bought the Birnbaum 2013 book (fresh in stores today!) That makes it feel real. The backpack I just bought on LL Bean clearance for the trip arrived today. That makes it feel real.

The day we book? Very, very real. The day it's paid off? Even more so.

The day we tell the kids? Over-the-moon real.

Leaving for the airport. Taking off for Florida. Seeing the Orlando airport. Seeing the Disney signs. Stepping into the resort.

Seeing the castle for the first time.

All of it makes it seem just a little more real.

When dreams really do come true!

My dream has always been to take my kids to Disney World. As a single Mom, yes, it has taken forever! They are now 16 & 20 and we are going!! I have never put so much effort & planning/homework into a vacation! but the money is in the bank waiting for me to attempt to rent DVC points (yes, I've even learned the acronyms), watching for the best prices I can get for flights, found the least expensive route for tixs & figured out which Meal plan we are getting. What is making it real is that it seems every where we go now we see something Disney & my daughter & I look at each other EVERY TIME & say, "It's a sign!" April 2013 can't come quick enough!

We leave in five days....and it still doesn't feel real. I'm listening to Disney music almost nonstop. My mom and I even called Disney the other day to rearraged our dining, set up our tours (Keys to the Kingdom and Undiscovered Future World) and to set up my archery lesson (Which I'm taking ON my 21st birthday before dinner at Teppan Edo ) but it still doesn't feel real...maybe it'll start feeling real soon.

LOL I have 'stages' of starting my vacation...

1st is once we are thru security at home airport
2nd taking off from home airport..
3rd landing
4th DME to resort
5th check in complete and I have my room key...

And it gets progressively more exciting every step.. But I dont truly feel I am on vacation til I have my room key. After step 3 I am much more excited though

The first real stage for me is getting out of work. The instant I get in my car to head home I feel my vacation has started. The next big step is getting through security and to my gate. Once I know I haven't missed my flight I become totally relaxed.

We go on a lot of vacations so the packing, planning, travelling, airport, flight, getting our luggage etc. is very exciting, but I honestly don't get that 'it's real for me' feeling until the very second I spot that Walt Disney sign and we drive under it. Only then do I feel like we have entered the 'WORLD" and all my problems are behind me!
