Ooooops........... don't know why, but I was thinking the OP was referring to a cruise on the Magic. Guess I should have had that extra cup of coffee this morning!

Sorry 'bout that.

DVC and DCL freaks (and I include myself) do like to cruise. In addition, DVC was running some "free" cruise with purchase promotions with the length of the cruise based on the number of points purchases. The ones I saw were for "off season" cruises as in this fall. It is not unusual to have MANY cabins with DVC members. 700 members out of 4000 guests isn't that unusual! But I do think the poster was right who commented that previous DVC cruises were on the Wonder; moving to the Dream makes a lot more cabins available at the premium price they charge for the member cruise.

We just re-booked this cruise on our Sept 2nd Magicm and it was still there early last week, now it's gone while all other Sept '13 cruises are still showing.
How strange...we were just on Fantasy and booked for next year on Dream and the Future Sales guy was pushing us for Sept 29 booking and I didn't like that date.

Now that IS stranage.
Any time any of those on our meet thread calls to inquire as to the status, DCL continues to say that the cruise "still isn't officially chartered, but it is on hold for a possible charter". They also state that they don't know if it is an entire boat charter or just a partial charter or even who is considering the charter.

That's strange, considering they won't even allow my mom to add a person to a cabin she already has booked because the cruise is blocked off due to the possible charter.

CM my gramma spoke to most recently said that it's DVC looking into and that they found it odd because DVC sailing is usually earlier in the month. But honestly it doesn't seem like anyone knows what the heck is going on or when they'll know what's going on.

I never knew that this could even happen. I'm glad you guys told me this as a heads up. We ended up going w/ Oct 6 sail date and it's a multi-family sail that yours truly put together...keeping fingers crossed this date is good...

Why don't they have fixed dates for the DVC cruise and just not sell them to the general public from the beginning, or can DVC not get it's act together soon enough for DCL to black out dates for them? Like for example when the release the itinerary for the Dream in 2014 just have one cruise blacked out as the DVC cruise and not open it to book any other way.

DCL has a history of changing cruise dates to private/DVC charters and even different itineraries close to the sail date.

Setting up long-term plans seems to be a challenge for them. A little common sense would go a long way in avoiding the fallout from this every year.

This is do crazy that they do that. As previous posters stated, just choose a date before opening up to the public and go with it. Don't be changing what people have already booked!

When they did this to people on the last Med cruise DCL offered to cover any change fees for airfare and hotel cancellation fees -- but it was done much closer to the sale date. Not sure if airfare could have been purchased this far ahead for this cruise.

Some people from the UK who booked the cruise have already purchased airfare. Airfare is also out for usair and a few other carriers for that date. We hadn't gotten ours yet but it's not impossible that others booked early.
