For Goodness Sake!!! You better have gone to the doctor young man!!!!! (said in my scariest "mom voice" of course)

I really feel for you. I know how much you were looking forward to experiencing WDW with Jackson, and for the time that you did have with him to not go as you'd hoped must have been really disappointing. I now have more compassion for my MiL. Maybe she acted out on our trip because she was feeling the same way? And, now I know how to handle her on future trips--arrange for a major concusion! Kidding, kidding.

Good call Lady H!! My DH majored in history for his B.A. so I should have picked up on that. Goodness knows he's subjected me to enough programming on the matter.

And, I know that I never told you where I was working now. I didn't because I was pretty sure I wouldn't be there long and I was right. Found a new job! I start at Ditka's in Oakbrook tomorrow.

No, I'm not meaning to pry, I guess it's that all the handicapped and disabled talk I dealt with when I was young, and overcame, have now resurfaced in the wake of being classified now as officially disabled, and getting hearing aids and dealing with macular degeneration.
DH has cerebral palsy which causes partial paralysis on his right side. He went through many surgeries as a child, and his mom was a librarian, so he read a lot. Follow My Leader definitely resonated with him.

I was a big fan of The Outsiders and the sequel, That Was Then, This Is Now. My best friend in 7th grade, Celeste, lived across the street from the main library. We were bad girl nerds. We used to check out books like The Outsiders, then sit in the below-ground level patio to read and smoke! Oh, we were rebels!

I'm waiting to find out how soon you told Smidgy about the vomiting. Are you the type to hide it from her, only to mention it casually later, or did you let her know right away?

we had a GREAT spot for illum.!!! and, boy, it was SO tempting to try to beat our "running of the bulls " record to get back to the bus stop. but I didn't want to be one of those people I complain about, thos who use strollers , wheelchairs, etc. as battering rams.

(but we still made pretty good time!!)

I was happy steve got to came with, and steve and I were able to enjoy illuminations together.

<3 you really are a mess dude...

It's a shame the kids really didn't feel the magic, even worse that you let what was absolutely a concussion go on like that without being seen by a doc. Oiy!

Smidgy, I'm so glad you comment. Sometimes Nebo gets wound up in his own head - and on this trip particularly; there was nobody else around to get him unwound. It was nice to hear that you were glad that he and you were able to enjoy Illumintations together. It was a warm fuzzy moment.

And Nebo - I would probably be right where you left us, vomiting two days after the event, if it had been me who'd banged my head in Libery Square. I have a pathological hatred of hospitals & very nearly that bad a dislike for doctors. However, I would not have been right. If you don't get professional help now, I will be quite put out.

Holy cow! I can NOT believe you didn't go to the ER after that fall, and that the EMTs weren't more aggressive with trying to get you to go. Same goes with the concierge lady, and the lifeguard! As an ER nurse for many, many years, you would have been classified as emergent in triage, and sent for an immediate head CT! I am dumbfounded that Disney didn't take a more proactive stance in your injury! I know they couldn't force you to be seen by a physician, but I just can't believe they let you, a head injury patient, say you didn't want to go to the ER. The EMTs should have clearly explained to your wife what could happen to you, and that you really had to go to the ER! Letting you make that decision in your state was very negligent of them.

I'm anxiously awaiting to hear how everything turned out. I'm assuming fine, since you seem to be having no problem writing your TR, which always makes me LOL! Sorry, again, about the fam not finding WDW as magical as you do. I hate when that happens!

You gotta learn to let go. They'll either learn... or they won't. And there's not a whole heck of a lot you can do about it.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! You vomit 3 DAYS LATER?! What the heck?! Talk about a delayed reaction! There's NOTHING magical about that! It's a good think you were in your room instead of outside reading... or at the bar. They would have cut you off for good!
We're all waiting with bated breath and eager ears to find out if (or WHEN) you called for help!

Ok here goes.

The reference to 11/22 is the date John F. Kennedy was shot back in 1963.
Ruby would be the reference to Jack Ruby who killed Lee Harvey Oswald.
Oswald as we all know (or should know if we studied history) assassinated JFK.

Is she right?

She also said the reference to the grey matter was just bad.

And for the record, no she didn't break her toe trying to kick me. She missed.
As my mom would always say, "time to call the Toe Truck".

And tell Heather she nailed it. My next clue was going to add it to be Ruby Lee, so atta girl. You win Thumper Man for an evening.

Dude ..... you really should have gone to the ER. How horrible that days later you were still feeling so badly.
Sue, yeah, it was a great spot, but it's still better to walk. But should a stroller or scooter be needed again, we know where to go now. What's great is the flaming barge is right in front of you, and you don't have to look behind to see any of the countries light up. The spot didn't fill up either, there was still plenty of room for more buggies when the show started.

The first was "Oh crap, Nebo would have a fit if he could see this" followed closely by a second thought that this was a dramatic re-interpretation of "Lord of the Flies" ala "Lord of the Yellow Jackets" on my car!

I seriously experienced inner turmoil over how in the frick to jump into the car without antagonizing the little devils into stinging me. I stood there for a good 30 seconds contemplating my best strategy and finally just went for it. A few flew angrily away as I slammed the door shut, but several remained on the hood while I drove out of the employee parking lot and onto the road, hanging on through sheer evil until I accelerated to about 55 mph.

The whole time I found myself thinking "Nebo is never going to believe this"!

I hate yellow jackets!
Double D I hate all bugs, ALL. Even cute little ladybugs, I would probably be still standing there.
But I'm not sure going 55 in your workplace driveway is a good idea.

You think?
This is my dilemma usually when writing chpaters like this;
I knew when I added that at the end that mostly just that is what is going to be mentioned, and anything before it will mostly be forgotten, right? And I understand it and why, but sometimes I want to go and rescue a couple lines from chapters like that which I think might have been funny, and use them in another chapter, know what I mean?

Then again, sometimes there just isn't ANYTHING funny or interesting in the chapter worth quoteing anyway. But it was just the perfect spot to throw in the throw up, and I dind't want to start a new chapter by throwing up, although, I guess I can am going to anyway, aren't I? Oh well, resume.

I'm out of excuses, but I do like the phrasing, "quite put out" though.

I have to agree with you; and even before they left I had to do all the question asking as they weren't forthcoming with head injury info at all.
I dunno, Diane said I was a real jerk when I was just coming to, maybe they took it personally?
I really wish I knew now, how the "Henry" incident played out at Epcot, from my Jingle Bells report when he went down and I tried to tend to him and revive him. Yeah, now I wish I had stayed around to see what happened there.

I'm anxiously awaiting to hear how everything turned out. I'm assuming fine, since you seem to be having no problem writing your TR, which always makes me LOL! Sorry, again, about the fam not finding WDW as magical as you do. I hate when that happens!
Thanks for posting Theresa, glad you 're still finding some laughs.

plug, noochie?

I find that amazing that you'd suspect that far in advance how it was going to turn out.

Experience.

You are so wrong. Winnipeg in January is nowhere close to that dark

It's darker....

And a lot colder.

A lot.

It's funny, now that I know somebody from Winnipeg, I can't help but check the daily temps now on the weather page in the newspaper, and yes, Winnie is listed.
I actually find myself going all over the country, and heck, the world now, especially in winter, to see what's it's like where different people live.
"Hmm, Winkers is in Wash. , what's it like there today? Buzz and Susan are S. Carolina, hey, how's Bunny Boy and his wife doing down in the south east? " yeah, I'm taking a long time now on the stupid weather page.
And if MacBrew and that German lady who disappeared posted more, it would be longer still.

I"m sorry, did you say something?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but when you talk about your anatomy that way, the mind just balks.

I know, but that line had it's 15 seconds of fame.

but it is a family board after all and we can't have that sort of picture on here.

Fine, belittle my yellow jacket attack, you never know when it may be your turn.

apostles? no, 12 of them, only one Soarin'
apostasy? Wasn't he a character in Happy Days?
apostate? No, gotta have that checked out in a couple weeks again.

:

Actually, I like Dench wench.... but... yes.

Sorry, I misread it. I thought you didn't want me to spoil it. I saw where you typed "If Ponzi can't get it" and thought "Ponzi, don't tell it".

Anyway, it's too late. Mrs T already got it.

Sorry, I know I knock the shovel out of your hands a lot.

You don't mention it, but how did you pick your stroller out after crush? Was there just one left or was it just "best guess"?

Really, that wasn't too hard to do, on the back in big bold letters my stroller said POP, meaning it belonged to Pop Century. Hmm, seems gender specific now, doesn't it?

Do you think that people are getting so used to the amazing (movies with CGI/3D/etc...) that when it shows up, it's just not a big deal anymore?

A little, but I also think that some people just aren't as amazed as others, and if they are also non demonstrative, it can come off as indifference.

You gotta learn to let go. They'll either learn... or they won't. And there's not a whole heck of a lot you can do about it.

I know, I know, I know

You should reserve one ahead of time for the next trip. You're probably going to need one, so might as well plan ahead.

Heh. Plan 'a head'.

Yes, we got it. Thank you.

Well. At last! A perk!

Yes, a park perk quirk this jerk wouldn't shirk.

Well at least you and Smidgy had a nice spot for viewing.

That we did, best EVER!

You should get yourself a nice chair with a v8.

Actually, believe it or not, I was damn good on a Segway when we took those tours, and one of the only peple that didn't get tangled up with someone else, or smash a bunch of helpless marigolds.

Another perk! Now you get to be the one smacking into people's shins instead of vice versa.

If I begin to skin some shins with a grin is it a sin if I win?
sorry, can't seem to stop this now,
and how.

But you probably wouldn't have shooed her off that quickly if instead of a little old lady, it was a nice young one.

guess we'll never know.

no, nope, nope nope... I have no idea. I had to google it to even find out about the kids song... and I still don't know why you used it here.

Hmm, ok, not sure now why I said that. But the Nope nope nope part we both say a lot, from the old cartoon starring Virgil the Buzzard, I threw in the "bringing home a baby bumblebee" part to maybe energize some people's memories of Virgil saying nope nope nope, cuz he also sang the bumblebee song, and geesh, WHO CARES?

You see, Mama buzzard sent out all her kids to go out and bring home dinner, and all the smart, good younger buzzards were flying home dragging rhinos and hippos and cows,,, and here comes Virgil singing "Im bringing home a baby bumblebee",,,,,,, it was a heartwarming moment.

'nuff said on that.

I couldn't have put that in a better spot!

This might possibly be the very first TR where such a superlative word has been used.
Bravo sir. Bravo.

(I wonder if he bought that)

no, much to his chagrin.

It never will. Watch National Lampoon... uh, pretty much any or them.

Didn't you just feel so bad for Clark? He tried so hard.

I know. And I'm really bummed about it. I even told Ruby and she said, "Awww..."

Oh, boy. Everyone else has already chimed in but... after that, you must've been a little concerned.
You are right about that, to be honest, I wanted my mommy.

Thanks Dude, great job

It didn't transfer 'cause I nested it inside your quote.

I thought long and hard about the pacifier. I really, really wanted to put it in... but even more, I wanted to place you and the scooter at epcot. So to put you at epcot, I had to make the scooter smaller... I figured that if I put in a pacifier I'd have to make it large enough to see... and you wouldn't be able to tell it was you anymore.

On another completely unrelated note... The pkondz family went to see Hotel Transylvania tonight.

meh.

No offense, but that sucks. If you give your word that you'll do something, then do it. Make other arrangements if you have to, but...

Well it's family and maybe I shouldn't have said that.

**************

ok, I have to say something. steve left out that , when we were bythe fountain, todd and kim said that Jackson needed to eat, or he would get cranky (todd knows his son better than we do). and they wanted to go into Electric Umbrella and get him something to eat.

but steve said that then there wouldn't be time to get a good spot for illum. so we agreed that we would go get an Illum, spot, and we woudl guard it, and they would go eat.

well, now that we are in worldshowcase, they didn't find anything jackson might like until the AMerican section (he doesn't care for tacos, sauerkraut, etc.) and by the time they got in oine, ate, etc. it was too late to make their way back around again..

so.. it wasn't "planned" to ditch nebo and the wheelchair pushing... sometimes stuff "just happens".

if we had eaten at electric umbrella like Todd and Kim wanted to, we probably would have all watched illum. from the handicapped area. (granted, not in the first row).. but of course, we didnt' know that at the time, about that great handicapped area right there.
