Palo on Formal Night?
Is this something we should avoid? (And if so, why?)
(Yes, we are first time DCL cruisers.)

Palo is an excellent adult dining venue onboard. The dress there (for dinner) tends toward the dressy (not necessarily formal, I wore a cocktail dress one time and dress black pants with sparkly top the other).

Asking whether to avoid Palo on formal night.
Sounds like it would be a great place for Formal Night, but I wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything in the MDRs that night.

![]() You could also do Palo brunch, that way you wouldn't miss the dinner menu/events in the MDRs.

Since each menu is only served once in each of the main dining rooms if you dine in Palo on any night you will miss something in the main dining rooms.
I've dined in Palo for dinner a couple of times and didn't really care for it, we like brunch so much better. That way we get a Palo experience and don't miss the main dining rooms, which we do like.

It's still an option if the times work out for you and you can eat that much.

Are you guys going with family and kids? If so, you might save formal night for something you all do as a family - get dressed up, go to pictures, go to dinner in the MDRs together? If so, you might want to do Palo on another night.
Speaking of which, we have an upcoming Christmas cruise where where NO good night is adult Palo night. This is because: Sat - Embarkation dinner for whole family. Sun - Formal night (spend with family) Mon/Tue - Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We have big traditions for family dinners on these days. Wed - Pirate Night. We don't care about the show but like the Pirate menu as well as going to dinner with our kids with their pirate stuff, bandannas and all. Thur - Semi formal - lobster night in the MDRs Fri - till we meet again. So, we don't have a particular night that jumps out at us as to when to go to Palo/Remy... Decisions, decisions.... |

Thanks everyone.
DH really wanted to have dinner in Palo and I booked one night, then realized it was formal night. It's just the two of us, so we'll likely be okay. The brunch looks awesome, but it's no longer available online (it was at the time I was booking everything. Drat!); maybe we'll get lucky once we're on board.

Just make sure you still do the picture opportunities in the atrium--there are some good ones!
