INTERESTING! DH and I had a WONDERFUL experience when we visited in May of 2001. We both enjoyed our meals very much. DH had the vegetable frittata and I had the tonga toast! Our server was Letti and I'll NEVER forget her....just beautiful and very personable!
We had an 8:30 PS for breakfast and maybe had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. I just love the atmosphere. I enjoyed this RFC better than the one at DD. DH and I would definitely visit this one again. :D

Tonga Toast?!
That's not Rainforest Cafe. That's the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian.

We have eaten at both RCs at WDW, and regretted both times. Very, very crowded table setup. Constant stream of people walking (actually squeezing) by our table. So loud we honestly had to almost shout to hear each other. Ordinary food, standard fare such as Chilis or other mass restaurants like that. Very high prices, even for WDW. Portions huge, to be point of unreasonably so (I can't think that it's good to bring us so much food). Service was OK, but somehow I'm not the kind who likes the server to pull up a chair and sit at the table with us.
Why does it do well? My guess is the children/teens like it. It is nicely themed, and kids tend not to have a discriminating palate, a cheesburger with a mound of fries sounds good to them. Both are located where there is not a lot of competition for sit down meals. They have a gift shop with RC souvenirs. You can join their "club" and get 10% off your meal the next day. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We did go there twice, and should have learned from our first visit. |

I enjoyed the AK one better than the DTD one. Everyone in our party liked the food and the portions were huge. Consider sharing if you have a light eater. I really enjoyed breakfast too. I had the Tonga Toast. It has the same name as the Poly version, but it is prepared differently. It was very good.

We ate at the one in AK, service was good. We used the
connection vouchers. We got alot of food for 59.00. The food was quite expensive. The banana crepes were absolutely delicious. Because of having the vouchers were tried different, expensive foods and beverages. We couldn't complain about the food at all. The only thing the restaurant is very crowded and noisy. I would suggest if you have vouchers this is a good place to use them for the money.

They were lunch vouchers for 29.00 each(beverage, appetizer, meal and desert) which I purchased through connections. I joined connections for $1.00 through 27blink.com. Membership was good for one month, then I cancelled so I wouldn't have to pay the yearly fee. Mousesavers.com also have a lot of info on the vouchers. I order lunch vouchers and also Quick and Casual
Vouches for $11.00 each. The Q & C vouchers are used mainly at fast food restaurants.

Wow I must be me but I eat at AK RF every trip to WDW. They have the best Bacon swiss burger I know of. It come with chips which after several days of Fries taste much better.
Maybe it is because I normally go solo and eat at the bar there has never been a wait. RussH |

I have to say I have eaten at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney and the service and food were good. This time around, we went to the one at Animal Kingdom and it was all down hill. The serve was bad.
They originally were going to seat us in the front squeezed between two other tables. We asked to be seated in a better location. And they ended up putting us in the back to one side. From there it got worse. Our server was slow. When she finally did show up, it took a while to get drinks. We will move on to the food. It was something less to be desired. First off, we got the check before we even got our food. The server stated that she was afraid she would forget, so figured to give it to us early. My boyfriend ordered the rack of ribs. He received 8 ribs and they were small. Mind you we had gone to Planet Hollywood 3 days before and he ordered ribs. Those came were a 12 count and were a lot bigger. Anyway, the Rainforest ribs were a bit dry, and very little fries. I ordered steak and shrimp. It was ok. It took forever to get our dessert and mind you we had told our server that we were taking the desserts to go. It took about 25 minutes. She seemed to have no interest in serving us. We were so disappointed. Never again.

I've only been for breakfast, which I think is actually worthwhile. It's not packed to the rafters like it is for lunch and dinner, and the food is pretty good. (But let's be realistic. You have to be doing something really wrong to mess up breakfast!)

We went for dinner in May, and hated it. We walked in with no wait time probably sometime between 5:30 and 6. Our waitress was terrible--she forgot things we asked for, never visited our table frequently, etc. Our table was right near the kitchen where the staff kept parading from carrying desserts and yelling "VOLCANO!" The atmosphere was SO loud. The rain forest setting never lets up, with the gorilla and elephant making noise every so often. I'd be concerned that it could frighten your children.
The food was decent--nothing spectacular, very akin to a Chili's. My party agreed we would never go there again. |

We ate there our last trip. The only reason we will be eating there again is because my daughter really enjoyed it. The food was decent, but I have never experienced such poor service in my life. Our waitress to our drink order, came back for our food order, and we never saw her again. Someone else brought out our food. We were never asked if we needed refills and had to flag down a different server to even get our check. I'm not really sure what the problem was that day. They weren't even that busy. We arrived a hour early because we were tired and hot and were seated almost immediately.

My DD8 and I went back in May and we loved it! The service was great, the food was awesome (I got the Chicken Cobb Salad and my daughter got the Kids Hot Dog meal). The atmosphere was fun as well!
