Where is the VIP viewing for Illuminations with the CP package

I've read conflicting things. Is it between the twin gift shops by the entrance to WS from FW or is French Island, or by Italy? Or is dependent upon your CP time? We are going to CP 12/15 at 6:45. thanks to anyone who can clear this up for me! :-)

The CP viewing area on 12/27/11 was between the gift shops. We've seen Illuminations many times over the years. First time at this location and it was awesome!

Yes. (See #14 below.)
It is very often located there, but that is not ALWAYS the location every night.
The reserved spot(s) can be at any of the other frequently-used "party and/or viewing venues"
ringing the WS Lagoon.

Is there enough room at location for everyone who bought the CP meal package? It doesn't look like a huge area.

It's always "standing room only," regardless.

And, because there are so MANY other great places to watch IllumiNations, many
experienced guests don't bother heading for the special CP viewing area, anyway.

Every time we have done the CP, that was the area that we were sent to..at least since they started doing it this way. I've stood there twice now. It really is a terrific spot to watch from.
BUT...it's a nightmare if you have to head back to the Intl Gateway to get to your resort and the park is closing after IllumiNations!!! You feel like a salmon swimming upstream, against the hordes of exiting guests!!!
I've done CP every year, at least once, for the past 9 years. I have been able to use that special viewing area ever since they started offering it. I no longer head there..just too congested for me. I just don't want to have to fight my way back to WS and the Gateway!!

How about for a guest who's in an ECV? My DH has limited mobility and cannot stand for prolonged periods of time. Usually, to view IllumiNations we pull his ECV up next to the fence, then either sit on the ground on either side of him or stand behind him as he remains in his ECV.

TIA.

for wheelchairs and scooters. The two areas we have used are in the Italy area and England. Some complain if there's a breeze the England area has smoke. I'm sure there's one handicap area on the third side by Mexico or whatever, but we haven't used it. These areas are smaller; so, you need to be there early to get in them. It's really hard with a wheelchair or scooter to see the show; unless, you have a front row seat for it.

I don't use the CP viewing area for Illuminations even though we get the package. I hate to say it, but when Disney raised there prices for CP packages I think they felt this would ease the pain. This area is one of the bigger areas for the show. It is mobbed most of the time. The one good thing is you are first from the WS area to exit after the show.

I've done the package multiple times but I have only gone to the viewing area once. For us its on the wrong end of the park, we are almost always exiting back through the international gateway and we prefer to browse in the WS until the last possible second before Illuminations. That said the preferred location is a great view but its too crowded for us. We prefer to watch from elsewhere in the WS.

Wind and smoke is always a factor, but it has nothing in particular to do with England (UK.)

Wherever in WS you decide to stand, if the wind happens to be blowing in your face, you've picked the wrong place to see the show.
That can happen at any spot around the Lagoon, depending on wind conditions at show-time.

You don't want a spot that night when the wind is blowing the smoke and cinders from the fireworks in your direction.
And, yes, that can happen if you're standing in WS Plaza if that's the chosen spot for the IllumiNations viewing for Candlelight Processional guests.

If we choose not to go to the preferred location, where is a good place to watch? We would exit through FS to the buses for POR. Thanks.

There are so many places to view IllumiNations at Epcot's World Showcase
that are wonderful in their own way that its futile to try to list them... so I will.

" Bridge between UK and France
" Norway area
" Upper level (outside front terrace) of the Matsu No Ma Lounge in Japan
" Italy, near the Gondolas
" Mexico, at the new Cantina
" Mexico, bridge to the right of the Cantina (as you face the lagoon.)
" UK, the Rose & Crown outdoor dining area (ressies required.)
" UK, just to the left of the Rose & Crown (as you face the lagoon.)
" Many, many more great spots.

Be sure to avoid any tree branches that block your overhead view,
and watch out for any "islands" in the water
that block your view of the "center" of the lagoon.

Best Tip:
Don't stand down-wind of the fireworks.
Their SMOKE will ruin the show.

So, If the wind is blowing into your face as you look towards the Lagoon, you are in the wrong spot.
