Fantasmic Dining Package

Has anybody done this and would you recommend it? The day we go to HS there is only one showing of Fantasmic at 7pm so we are seriously considering this with dinner at Mama Melrose. Have you done this before? What is included? Would you recommend it?

We've done it several times (either the lunch or dinner package) and highly recommend it. You pay the set price (or 1TS credit if on the DDP) and select an appetizer, entree, and non-alcoholic beverage from the regular menu. Currently the included dessert is an assortment platter for the whole table, rather than an individual selection from the menu.

We do the package for a couple of reasons. First- we always do a TS lunch or dinner in the park anyway. And we like MMs.(although we have always had a wait for our table). Second, I absolutely HATE waiting in lines. We have gone during relatively slow park times (late Jan, mid Sept) and still encountered capacity crowds for Fantasmic. And being in line an hour before the show when it is hot and you are tired and overheated after a long day in the park is sheer torture for me.

It's all personal preference. For us, the convenience coupled with a dinner that we would have anyway is a no-brainer. Other people are either content to wait in line or are willing to take a chance that they can still get in by entering 30 min. before showtime.

Another consideration is whether the night you will be there is an EMH night. If it is, then you can anticipate higher crowd levels and a longer line for F.

I agree with all of this. We've tried both H & V and Mama Melrose's. We definitey prefer Mama Melrose, but we'd take either if it meant not having to wait in the Fantasmic! lines. Lines in January weren't bad compared to lines for the May/June lines, but nonetheless having a seat ready for us rather than standing around with 4 kids was preferable.

We've been on the dining plan 2 of the 3 times using this plan, and having the option of an appetizer was great since you don't normally get that option on the DDP.

The H&V meal is comparable to most other character meal buffets. We thought the food was fine, but the kids loved the characters. Our preference, though, is Mama Melrose's. We went there for lunch during our May/June trip, and we liked the food and the atmosphere.

Yes, we have done it and plan on doing it as long as we can. I certainly don't mind paying a little extra money if it will reduce my time in line and maximize my vacation time. The seats aren't the best, but there is really no bad seat and we have seen it so many times (a few from dead center) it doesn't matter to us.

We also think Mama Melrose is the best option. Better food than H&V and better value than Brown Derby.

What time do you usually get in line for F when doing the dining package. We are going the week of Dec 3- Dec 10. Our HS day is the 6th.

you don't actually "get in line" when you have the Fantasmic package tickets...you just show up at the Fantasmic entrance about 30-45 minutes before Fantasmic starts, show your pass and they direct you to the walkway to get to the Fantasmic reserved seats. Currently, the reserved entrance is up across from the entrance to Tower of Terror...you actually go past the regular Fantasmic entrance.

Another thing we really, really like about the FAntasmic dinner seats is that you can exit quickly using the auxilliary exit that is right next to reserved section...if you leave right away and head down that exit you will get out and down to the park exit ahead of most of that huge crowd which is great when you're heading to busses or parking lot trams at the end of the night...you'll be near the front of that line.

We try to do it every trip and LOVE it. (unfortunately we haven't been able to book it our past 2 trips due to the very limiting showing of Fantasmic at that time) We would normally have a TS dinner anyway..so including it in with a "no wait" reserved section for Fantasmic is a done deal! We chose Brown Derby. Great food!! We've never tried Mama Melrose. We tried H&V and was NOT impressed.

MM F! Dining Package

YES !

I agree with PP's who recommend MM F! Dining package...

We did this May 28th 2012.... that visit to WDW completed my visits to ALL DHS TS locations.... I've now tried all 3 F! Dining packages:
H&V about 3x, 2 more x without the F! pkg.
HBD 1x, 1 more time with the Imagineer pkg.
MM 1x with the F! pkg.
PLUS;
Sci Fi 1x
and 50's Prime Time 1x.

Mama Melrose blew us away.... here is our review:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...o_Florida.html

We usually go to WDW during the very busiest times... and the Fantasmic package allows us to enjoy a nice meal and enjoy NOT waiting in a long line for a show we LOVE.....

Have a magical visit !
Mary

I did this in March eating at the Brown Derby. The show package is expensive and you can get into the show without it, but I'm glad that we did. The biggest advantages for my us were not having to arrive early to get to the show and you are seated near the exit, which make the mass exodus after the show a little less unpleasant. Both of these were important, since I was traveling with my parents who didn't enjoy the Fantasmic preshow noise (the less of that they experienced, the better), and they don't move as fast as they used to, so not being in quite a big as mass of people was a plus. We were on the boat back to the Boardwalk, where we were staying, before half the crowd had left the theater.

You don't get the best seats in the house, but they're good enough, so if you're comfortable paying for the late arrival privilege and want to get out faster after the show ends, then I'd recommend this. I also think your choice of Mama Melrose's is a good one. We chose Brown Derby because my father likes eating there.
