Thank you! Yes, we're taking Guitarob's dad since he was kinda sore that he didn't get to go on our last trip. He did, after all, inspire Guitarob's obsession with all things Disney.

I'm in for the rest of your reviews! Can't wait!
Thanks! I'm sorry you missed it - you definitely need to make it a point next time.

After breakfast on that first day, we visited Hollywood Studios while waiting for our room to become available. Of course we were stuffed to the gills from breakfast so snacking wasn't really on our radar. And that's a shame since we never made it back - we'd planned to visit again after dinner but I did not at all feel up to it. So no carrot cake cookie for me this time around.

As God is my witness, I'll have a carrot cake cookie in December! See, I'd be much unhappier otherwise.

Anyway, once the room was ready we returned to the Poly, enjoyed some fruity beverages and went for a swim. Later on as we headed back to our room we grabbed a couple of cookies each from the lounge. No matter how many times I tell myself to lay off the cookies, I just can't seem to pass them by. They're like crack. And I can never decide if I like the chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin more. Well, at least the oatmeal raisin has fruit in it...

Moving on.

I tried unsuccessfully to nap, woke up to a thunderstorm and got ready for dinner. Rob went down to the lounge to see what sort of offerings they had brought out for the evening, and came back with a couple bits of sushi which I wish we'd gotten pictures of but I was so ravenous there was no time to do so. But let me just tell you: that tuna poke salad was off the chain, and the California roll was very tasty. I wanted a lot more but (a) they were putting the food away at that point, and (b) we still had 'Ohana to look forward to!

We arrived around 7:30 for our 8:00 ADR and before Rob even had a chance to get drinks from the bar, the buzzer went off. This was a theme throughout the week, by the way. We called it "the trip of good timing". And maybe that should have been included in the title of this report. If Guitarob makes up a trip report, that should be the name.

Let me show you the photos I managed to take throughout the course of the meal. It was super hella dark in there at the time, and it was difficult to get a good shot as a result, so some things just didn't make the cut.

I'm not a fan of wings in general - they're too messy for me and I don't like messy foods - but Rob insisted I try at least one. Super good. Super duper good. And super sticky.

Ah, my loves. My tasty little loves. Now, I prefer my potstickers to not be totally crispy the way these were, but they were still good. I got the impression that they were sitting in the warming pan for a while prior to making it to our table. Still, really delicious. Rob doesn't usually eat potstickers but he enjoyed these. He kept requesting more (since they were sitting on my side of the table and not by accident) and it hurt my heart to keep handing them over.

I forced myself to eat some of this - not because it was disgusting or anything, but because I knew I needed something slightly healthy in my meal. I say "slightly" because it was pretty buttery.

Really, though, it was all about this gorgeousness:

I mean, really. It doesn't get much better than that. Just as fantastic as I remembered. And I have to say, it seemed as though there was a sauce of some sort coating the noodles - and I don't mean the regular lo mein sauce we all know. I didn't get a peanut taste, but there was definitely a thick something or other coating them. Either way it was delicious.

And then there was the meat. No, I didn't get any pictures of the meat. Come on, folks, you've seen it all already. Plus our fingers were all gross and sticky at this point and I didn't want to get the camera all messy.

But I'll give you our thoughts on the meats.

The chicken was delicious - perfectly grilled, not dry at all.
The pork was downright juicy. I'm serious. I almost couldn't believe it myself.
The beef was totally amazing. Nice, deep pink in the middle and tender all the way through. The flavor was outstanding.
The shrimp was yummy, although I had a heck of a time trying to peel some of it. But if that's my biggest complaint about the meats, I'm okay with it.

I filled up really quickly on the meats - I tried a little of all of them but then I had to wave the white flag.

Besides, I was saving room for the best part of the entire meal!

It's enough to make me want to cry.

Look at that melty goodness.

What can I say about this that hasn't already been said a million times? It's simply the best dessert on property, in my humble opinion. Rarely do I taste something that convinces me I'm committing a sin by eating it. And yet that's the first thought that entered my head when I took that first bite.

I kept eating, though. Needless to say.

This was an amazing meal, and I had to say that we controlled ourselves much better than we did during our first visit. Maybe because the newness wore off. Maybe because we weren't brought a second dessert which we felt compelled to at least taste (seriously, that was just a mistake all around). Maybe because I felt pretty rotten by the end of the meal.

Not from the food, mind you! I wasn't feeling 100% on top of things when I got up from my attempted nap, probably because I'd woken up at 3:30 AM on Sunday (no idea why), and again on Monday. I was just exhausted - to the point where I fell asleep as we watched Wishes from the balcony.

Who falls asleep during Wishes???? Oh, right. I do.

Still, that didn't change the fact that 'Ohana was just as great as we'd anticipated it being.

Next: Would dinner at Artist Point live up to the memories from our previous trip?

Glad that Kona and 'Ohana started things off on a high note! I hope Artist Point also delivered.

Ohana is easily my favorite restaurant on property, and that review/picture of the bread pudding just made my mouth literally water.

It needs to be December, and I need to be shoveling that delicious, amazing, decadent, perfect dessert into my mouth hole.

Excellent Ohana review. We are scheduled to go there on our upcoming trip, and I'd been slightly worried at the worsening reviews.

That's terrible. I guess it really is luck of the draw.

I say what the heck, give it a shot! What was bad about your experience? I know it's hard to go back after writing a place off - we had a less-than-great experience at Rose & Crown three years ago and we've never gone back. Funny thing is, we had a terrific meal there the year prior. But honestly, when you're paying that much for a meal why waste your time going back? However, I still think you should give 'Ohana another shot.

Amen. Amen. I don't think we're going to go back on our December trip, which is a serious bummer. I'm considering loitering around the outside of the restaurant and asking people if my good friend Abe Lincoln and I could persuade them to smuggle some bread pudding for me. I think this is a good plan. We'll see how it pans out.

Right??? It was truly the best first day ever, at least in terms of food.

I was a little hesitant as well. I mean, we tried for weeks and weeks to score this ADR, and even as I obsessively checked for one I wondered if it would be worth the effort based on what I'd been hearing. I mean, as with any restaurant there's so much room for error and inconsistency. But believe me, when they're on their game they are ON it.
