365 days of healthy choices... Year #2 starts with post 319, comments welcome!

I had a great workout today! I did 1 hour on the treadmill. For the first 40 min. I concentrated on increasing my speed. The time just flew by! The next 10 I did at a 10% incline. I did decrease my speed, but it surely did kick my but a little. felt great! then I finished with a round of intervals. Followed by lifting weights. I am tired now, my feet a little sore as we also did some hard work out on the ice this morning and I had to wear boots and hike through some snow. BUT I feel GREAT!

Except... my front tooth chipped tonight! It is one that I actually chipped back in 4th grade, I actually chipped both of my front teeth back then, luckily only 1 chipped tonight. But I look RIDICULOUS... And wouldn't you know we are implementing a new computer system in the hospital on Monday, there will be a ton of people there and I have this ridicuous chipped tooth. uggghhh I feel like I look like the stereotypical hillbillie...

OK, on to better things... A very motivational video. There are 2 of them, but the same person, but the second one has more info in it. If you can only watch 1, watch the second one. I am reaching toward that goal of running in the disney 1/2 marathon, and this certainly shows me it is possible...

DH and I are doing his work's BL competition, and I am so afraid that after the competition I will slack off... So we talked about it, I am sooooo glad and thankful that he is on board with me and doing this with me, I think it will really help.

We decided on focused goals for ourselves... It is a 4 step goal process for me right now, in order of the goals/events that are upcoming. And then after I accomplish #4 I will look for my next goal, but for now...

Goal #1. Focus on Biggest loser competition

Goal #2. Focus on getting in shape for our cruise

Goal #3. Focus on earning my black belt

Goal #4. Focus on completing Princess 1/2 marathon

I am glad that I have those laid out for me, because I think I need goals to be working toward, and with the support of DH I know I can achieve them!!!

BTW I stepped on the scale and I am down another 4# for our competition (8# total so far in 2 weeks, and 10# since the beginning of the year!) and DH is down 9# total!

Sooo... I EARNED MY NEXT CLIPPIE!!!!!!!

WTG lady! You know that I am a great believer in ST goals, and those sound terrific and you sound like you are in a great place.

I finally got the clearance (from the surgeon) to train again and, although I still have some health things I am dealing with, I am beginning again tomorrow, though I feel like I am starting over which is frustrating.

Will get on my own blog this week for details.

But I wanted to say good going and to encourage you.

I am so glad that you got cleared to train... because that means you are GETTING HEALTHY!!!!! Very happy for you that you are healing! Take time, I know it is frustrating starting over, but your body will appreciate it, please be patient with yourself. I will cheer you on! Thank you for your encouragemnt, I love it and makes me feel special!

I actually came on yesterday, but the server was too busy...

Yesterday was a VERY stressful day. In the afternoon I was so tempted to go to McDonalds for comfort food. I was dreaming about it, salivating about it, oh, it would have tasted so good..... BUT I DIDN'T GO!!!! I was so proud of myself!

Today I got my teeth fixed! HURRAY! More work does need to be done, but I am so happy that I don't have to be sefl conscious about it. Sitting here thinking about that, makes me think how happy I will feel when I don't have to be self conscious about my weight. It will be a great day!

Stressful day again, think we will have many of them for quite a while. There was a chocolate candy dish there. AND I avoided it! I wanted one soooo bad, but I didn't take one... I may have sniffed the candy jar a few times... but didn't take any! After dinner I was also a bit hungry and I took just a few pistachio nuts and ate those instead. I am pretty proud of myself! It isn't easy to avoid them, but I am proud of doing so. Especially considering my DD just finished selling a box of chocolate for school. I have 2 of those candy bars set aside for me. I've taken 1 Square of a the caramel and that is it!!!!

We got our numbers for the second weigh in week for DH's BL competition, and DH and I are in 4th place so far for weight lost. 1st place lost 23 so far, 2nd place lost 17 so far, 3rd place lost 15 so far, and we have lost 14 so far. We aren't too far behind! I'm going to work hard to keep going, keep losing. I am so focused on this competition right now and then our trip. It is great to have a focus!

I am soooo happy! I've really been working hard, and it feels good to be down 20 from my highest. I'll be thrilled when I can add another 20 to the loss tally.

Just worried about the weekend, I know we are going out to dinner one night, and I'll have to be careful of my choices. Not easy to do, but I'll be careful.

Update:

Well, were to start...

when I stopped posting, I was still actually doing great. Made it down to 30# loss. DH was 3rd place for men in the BL competition. We just got so busy at that time that something had to give and unfortunately it was my journal. Looking back, I really liked journaling every day. It held me accountable to making healthy choices. Also looking back though... it was weak. I made some good choices, but not nearly enough, not even close by a long shot. I knew it. I was trying to convince myself that skipping on the chocolate piece at work was great, but then... sort of... maybe... forgot to mention the other 40 bad choices I made.

We went on my DREAM vacation in summer and it was bittersweet. I could fit in the Mummy ride, but couldn't do Harry Potter, not even close. We swam with the dolphins at Discovery Cove, but still felt so uncomfortable in my skin. WAY too big. don't get me wrong, the vacation was absolutely amazing, but it could have been so much more.

After that I fell apart, could not get myself back together. Slowly this fall I have been working toward that goal and last night really got inspired. I decided to start year 2. I originally had planned to start on Sat. (you know how it is... set a day a few days away so I can have a food frenzy before then), but I sort of just got sick and tired of it all and decided last night to just start today! And so I did.

Yes, I mean my journal page, though it could be the weekend before I update/restart it.

A lot has happened, cancer, surgery, radiation, bad cellulitis in my hand last week. But I really want to be healthy and need to start now.

Did some walking and food was not perfect but pretty good.

Probably will not get completely on track until after Thanksgiving Monday - but I can't wait til then or I will not move and will eat all weekend!

So here are just a few short term goals:

a) no chocolate bars til Halloween night

b) journal food daily

c) move at least three times a week (four would be a bonus)

d) write either here or my journal (here until the weekend) or both everyday - if only to say hello. Could do that on my phone.

This is just for October, will go from then.

Created a calorie "bankbook" - goal is to stay within it - just the caloric equivalent of points actually. Using an IPhone program called My Net Diary which is awesome.

So what's your plan?

Yes, lets start right now and do it together.

Princess awaits for me at the end of February (or that is the plan - at least the 5k, but hoping for more).

Bad news, arthritic knee acting up But we will work with it.

Awesome goals!!! ANd I am so very proud and happy for you! sound like some really great steps to get going. CANCER???? so sorry to hear about it, and everything else that is going on.

a good friend of mine at work just got diagnosed with diabetes and I feel so bad for her. That also spurred me to get moving, because that is one thing I DON'T WANT!!!! Our health is so important, so glad we are making this commitment together.

My plan... Well, I am exercising daily. That is the primary goal. It is working on keeping me from eating as much because then I'm not home!b What I mean by that is that I am not at home, on the couch with chips and dip in hand.

I am calcualting calorie intake at the end of the day, and just doing a quick tally in my head. I want to get a feel for what I am doing, and eating. Not trying to give myself strict numbers as that always stresses me out. Just focusing on snacking less.

NOT STEPPING ON THE SCALE! That is hard for me, but I know it is super important, it keeps me focused on healthy choices and how I feel and not the numbers.

So glad we are in it together!
