I've about had it with the appliances at OKW! Vent! - The DIS Discussion Forums

We have been members a loooong time. I know the drill here. Every time we come (3 times a year) there are problems with these old appliances. I appreciate the soft goods being replaced, but it's time to replace the dishwashers and maybe the frigs! I call housekeeping. They are wonderful about coming to help us. But it's time to spend some money where there's a continuing problem! Vent over! Oh, sorry, we are here now in a GV, bldg 25, but the bldg number and unit size don't matter. Our experiences have been similar.

Keep in mind that it will be Member's money, not Disney's.

Didn't the rehab a couple of years ago include appliances? The appliances seemed relatively new during my last trip in May.

Be careful what you wish for. At BWV a couple you years ago they replaced the refrigerators and they bought cheap ones. We bought groceries for our 2 week stay and noticed that the refrigerator didn't seem very cold. Called maintenance and they checked it and said that everything was fine. Next day still seemed not cold enough, maintenance again, again they checked it and said it was fine. I went to the store and bought a thermometer, 60 degrees and food is getting funky. Went to Front Desk to complain, they sent 2 different maintenance men who explained that many of the new refrigerators were defective and that they would replace it. Three refrigerators later, three days later we got one that worked.

They did give us money to buy new food but we spent 5 days dealing with an issue that shouldn't have happened, especially when they knew that the new refrigerators had problems.

Sorry your having problems.Been a member since 91,started using in 92 and glad to say have never had a problem with anything more then a light bulb or as of right now a door knob.I'm right know in building 27 and all is great with the world except for the rain but that is easy to overlook.Sorry I can't say the same for my Golf Game this morning.

So what are you finding wrong with the appliances? I thought the dishwasher, refrigerator (with icemaker - you don't find that at any other DVC resort), washer and dryer all have worked fine for us.

The frig is fine and, yes, there is an ice maker. The dishwasher will not latch, so it will not run. The coffee maker had to be replaced. The stove is newer and is also fine. But there's been some problem with every dishwasher at OKW at each of our last five stays. I'm not looking for new stainless steel units but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect each appliance to function.

Gosh, you've had bad luck with the dishwashers. We haven't had a bad one or one that the rack had been used as a riding toy in the parking lot.

I hear ya, had a washer that ran insanely loud during the spin cycle earlier this year towards the end of our stay; I'm certain it was loud enough to affect our neighbors as we could feel the floor pounding throughout our 2 bedroom unit. Washer looked almost the same as one I bought for my mother-in-law in 2000 on sale so could've been over 10 years old. Didn't let it affect my vacation so I reported it to the front desk upon our departure along with some other minor issues that future guests would appreciate having addressed.
