For the Second Time in 3 Weeks, I Lost a Pet

Three weeks ago, we had to put our beloved canine friend of almost 15 years to sleep because of her fast declining health. She was survived by our Dachshund who is 10 and our American Eskimo who is 14. In the last 2 weeks, our Eskie, named Igloo, became a different animal. She had had an appetite though not the same as before our oldest dog died and in the last week, just stopped eating. I tried coaxing her by boiling chicken and rice and she loved that. However not long after eating she threw it up.

We thought the first time was maybe because she had not eaten for a while and the amount that she ate maybe upset her stomach. After the second time, DH decided a trip to the vet was in order. We took her in yesterday and they wanted to keep her overnight to run tests and do an ultrasound. Sadly this morning we received the news that Igloo had cancer of the kidneys and a blockage in her colon. The vet said we could prolong the inevitable, but once again we had to make the difficult decision to let her go.

I'm sure Phoebe was there this morning to greet her long time friend at the Rainbow Bridge. Our dachshund is very lonely as he has lost his 2 life long friends.
