OMG you should see me when I'm driving
I'm pretty sure the minute I open my mouth no one would have to ask the question

Having thought about it, I'm curious -- what is the point of the blue envelope? If she doesn't want you to see it and it can just be shred upon her death, why does it exist at all? Is it blackmail of someone?

OP here, thanks for all the comments, I really got a kick out of a lot of them! I think if there ever were a reason for me to get her possessions from the safe, I would "kind of" honor her wishes and keep the envelope, but not look! If I destroyed it, I'd be wondering forever what was in it....but if I have it in my safe, I'll know I'll have it in case it's (whatever "it" is!) needed for something in the future.

I'm definitely asking her about it in October though!!

P.S. I loved the idea of sending her everything in a blue envelope!!

Prior to working at a church for five years I would have probably wanted to know. Now I know that it's almost never good to know the type of secrets people keep.
