We love breakfast at Hollywood & Vine. It's a character buffet with characters that may otherwise be hard to see in the parks. It's also interactive for the kids. You'll get mixed reviews on this, but the breakfast food at this buffet is similar to other Disney World breakfast buffets.

We also like Prime Time 50's for lunch or dinner. My DD8 loves it!

Sci-fi is great for a lunch stop, but I wouldn't waste a dining credit on it. Really cute in the inside.

Have never eaten at Mama Melrose but would love to try it sometime! I think they just updated the menu not too long ago.

ABC Commissary is a good QS as is Pizza Planet. There is another QS by the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area that is good as well!

We aren't really picky eaters and there haven't been many places in Disney we down right hated!

We like 50s and Sci Fi best for TS. If doing Fantasmic pkg we do Mama Melrose. We enjoy the food there, but it is always slow service.

For quick service we like to get the sandwiches and cupcakes at Starring Rolls. This is easily shared between two! Backlot Express is nice if you are really thirsty because you can refill your sodas.

We are well past the point of enjoying character meals, so H&V is of no interest to us, and I haven't been recently enough to comment. For us, the best TS from a culinary standpoint is Brown Derby. For a more casual TS, we enjoy 50's PT the best. The fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast and milkshakes are something we always enjoy, along with the atmosphere. I am not a huge fan of Sci-Fi. Mama Melrose is OK, but we try to mix things up while on vacation, and we are definitely going to find some time for Italian food. There are several far better options than this, so we don't eat here.

As for QS, my favorite is Fairfax Fare. Ask people what the best QS is at AK, and you will get many votes for Flame Tree. Well, this is basically the same menu, yet it gets little love when discussing QS options at DHS. It has the added benefit of being right next to the hand-dipped ice cream vendor! My next favorite is the ABC Commissary. But I have to caution that the only thing I ever get there is the Chicken Curry Bowl. I really like this dish. But if pressed to order something else at the Commissary, I would turn around and go elsewhere. So this is not so much a recommendation of a QS restaurant as it is a particular dish.

I think I am done with The Backlot Express. I have been disappointed the last several times.

I have never eaten at Pizza Planet. I have seen enough photos of the pizza to know that it is nothing that I would ever want to eat.

Make sure to use a snack credit at Starring Roles. :

For QS we like Backlot Express and Starring Rolls has amazing desserts.

We never eat TS at DHS as the choices don't appeal to us.

Dhs dining

I have dined at DHS many times... and now have done ALL DHS TS Dining.

DHS H&V Lunch and Dinner and F! Dining package 4-5x
DHS HBD Lunch F! dining and HBD Imagineer Dining
DHS MM Lunch F! Dining

Various DHS CS/QS dining.

My favorite DHS dining has a disadvantage as it is outdoors.... I love the sunshine ranch market which is between RnR and ToT and has a HUGE variety of choices including Fairfax Faire, Rosies, Catalina Eddie's (with a YUMMY Italian SUB!) etc....

My Favorite F! dining package (which I recommend) is MM's... we LOVED this May 2012.... have pics and review if needed....

50's Prime time.. LOVED the Pot Roast, need to go back interaction was not great the time I visited

Sci Fi.... we LOVED the atmosphere easily the most QUIET meal at WDW due to the movies shown.... food was okay not bad at all...

Have a magical visit !

Mary

Sci-Fi for lunch or dinner and Hollywood and Vine with Playhouse Disney for lunch! We went to both on our last trip in August and loved them!

I don't know if it's on the Dining Plan but we enjoy eating at Staring Rolls. It's quiet and foodis nice whereas we find the ours too crowded.

We love Staring Rolls for CS. They make the sandwiches fresh daily and they are delicious. Also, you can't beat the Butterfinger cupcake. Keep in mind though that once the food is gone, it's gone. We normally try to get there no later than lunch.

As for TS, we like both 50's (has that comfort food factor) and we also enjoyed the Brown Derby.

Starring Rolls for CS! We have despised DHS for years based on their bad CS and then found this little place- amazing! We love the turkey sandwich with chips and butterfinger cupcake. DH even requested to eat there twice this trip- we shared both times but got our own desserts the second time.

We always avoid TS at DHS unless it's Hollywood Brown Derby (costs 2 TS credits).

To me, the best TS is easy. Hollywood Brown Derby is on a very short list (about 2 restaurants long ) for best TS in any park. It's also 2 credits on DDP. For 1 TS, Sci-Fi has an excellent atmosphere & a great burger. We haven't tried anything else. MM was pretty good, but we haven't eaten there in a while. We were one & done with H&V. I would only consider going there, if I had very young kids, & I went for breakfast. It's harder to mess up breakfast. We haven't tried 50's, due to the theme & the food looks heavy. I can't offer an opinion on it.

For CS, we think Starring Rolls has good sandwiches & desserts. To us, it's the clear winner. The others would rate about the same, except for ABC Commissary. We think their food is the worst on WDW property.
