Travel from WDW to Port Canaveral

Need some expert advice

We having booked a holiday arriving on the 14th Dec - we are at Bay Lake Tower for 2 nights before travelling to Port Canaveral to pick up the 3 night cruise on the Dream.
I wonder if anyone could answer the following questions regarding getting there
- Can you park at Port Canaveral? if so do you have to pay?
- The DCL transport is working out at around $280 - is there a cheaper option?
- If you we do decide to park is it a "park and ride"

Thanks in advance

You can park at the Port Terminal across from the ship- 3day Cruise around $60.
http://www.portcanaveral.com/cruising/terminals.php

There is also Park & Cruise options/ these are places near the Port where you would park and then get a shuttle to the Port. Price $6.99 per Day.
They are usually large Car parks with 24hr Video and some people watching and arranging shuttles.
There are some good and some Bad places so check out the Reviews.

Other options are the Hotels around the Port, they usually do Park and Shuttle.
Some Hotels also offer a 40% Discount voucher of the Port Parking if you stay a night with them.

If you can Drive I would take your Car as there is not a really cheap option to travel to the Port apart from Driving own car, or hiring a one way Car Rental and dropping off at The Rental place near the Port.

DCL transfers are the most convenient but are costly. You could rent a car (pick up at MCO and keep it with you at WDW and then drop off at the port or park it at the port).

You could then either do the same on the return (one-way rental from port area to MCO) or take the DCL transfers one way back to MCO (most convenient).
