Boardwalk wifi help

Staying at boardwalk villas. The free wifi is horrible. If we can connect to it (big if) it will drop within a few minutes. To have any chance of reconnecting we have to get out and start over again. I called the extension the flyer in the room suggested. She said she would send a ticket up to have the ip address reset (??? I think I'm saying that right) but that when you log in it could hit a different up address.

This is all Greek to me, so I really don't know what I'm doing but hubby is usually good at this stuff and is beyond frustrated.

Anybody know of any tricks to get connected and stay that way??

Or is wired still an option?? There was no cable in the closet like they used to have but didn't know if you could request one

I had the same problem with the wi-fi there last month. I actually brought my own airport express router and i couldn't get it to work, and i consider myself pretty tech savvy. I couldnt find a cable in the room like they used to have, so i just dealt with the really slow speeds for the week.

Wired is no longer an option, sadly. Part of the problem is everyone trying to use it at the same time, when they get back from the parks.

It is hit or miss at every location.

IME, excellent. Each THV unit appears to have its own WiFi base station, unlike the typical resorts where they seem to have put the base station in every third room, so it only works great in that room, while adjacent rooms get marginal service.

I found the same thing when I was there a couple of weeks ago, very hit or miss. Luckily I only used the internet for social media. If you needed it for something important it would be very frustrating. We spent 5 nights at BWV, then moved to AKV-Kidani. There I found that the wifi was very good in the main area of our 1br, but most of the time didn't work while in the bedroom.

We had the same problem at BCV in July, my DH rang the tech support line a number of times and they sent someone out. I don't know what they did as we were out but it was fine after that.

I tried my router in late April, the wired has been disconnected. When everyone was crying they wanted wi-fi, I knew speed was going to be an issue, it always sucks in hotels.

wireless is usually planned for similar coverage throughout the complex no matter where the access points are placed. the problem occurs when there are a high number of devices connecting at one time. wireless is shared access so more devices = slower speeds. if the hotel was empty, you could probably walk through watching videos of kittens doing funny things and listening to Britiney Spears while posting on Disboards at high speeds.

if they do in fact put a wireless device in each THV unit, it will be basically dedicated to that villa so you should see better speeds. Unless for some reason, your family has 40 wireless capable devices running at one time.

you can email your complaints to disney but beyond charging for access to limit the people connecting, there isnt a lot that can be done. you are going to see the same issue in the parks and anywhere where wireless exisits (disney or not).

I have my own aircard. Otherwise I would go insane. I can use it for my phone as well as for my computer, thereby saving my sanity.

What really stinks is having AT&T service. Then not only can you not connect to Disney's WiFi, out can't connect on our own either (I hate ATTs coverage at WDW).

What does having AT&T phone service have to do with connecting to the WiFi? We have always had good cell service with AT&T at WDW too.
