We'll be extending a similar reply to you very soon. But first, you have to depart for WDW! Sometime on Sunday, yes?

All the best.

Since it is school vacation week in most of New England that is why they have the prices so high. Any other week it would be fine but DH is a teacher so we are stuck going that week.

Another option to fly is to drive 3-4 hrs to Long Island or NYC and fly out of there but that just sounds too stressful for me plus those cheaper flights were on a Saturday night

Came back leaving on Tuesay morning at 11 am from Lake Buena Vista taking I95 and got home Wednesday at 1:30 pm. The only major problems we had were gas in Georgia being $3.999 on the way back (only put $30 in and filled up on our next stop when the price was cheaper.) and making the mistake of taking the inner loop of 495 at DC w(where traffic was at a practical standstill from 8-9 am from rushour) instead of the outer loop toward Maryland. That's what I get for listening to my GSP. I think it was trying to take me to the Turnpike even though I have it programmed to not do toll roads. When I changed it to take me to Harrisburg instead of home it took me on some 2 lane highways up to Gettysburg and finally got us to 83 and I knew the way home from there.

We went over halfway home on Tuesday by midnight and slept in a reststop in Virginia for 6 1/2 hours. I know, that's unheard of on here, but it gets harder the older you get. We got up at 6:30 and drove till about 7 or 7:30 & when the traffic started to pick up we stopped for breakfast.

Stopped at the Hollywood Casino in Grantville, PA near Hershey to use the facilities and get free refreshments. Didn't even gamble. Got a copy of my card and I had $4.08 on it so I used that to help pay for a watch DH had seen in their gift shop when we were there on a bus trip.

We had been on the Disney Fantasy August 25 cruise & stayed on for 3 extra nights because of the Labor Day weekend. We didn't want to drive back in that traffic. We went to Universal on Sunday to see the Harry Potter stuff. Had Butterbeer both ways and rode one ride. Didn't do the inversion roller coasters. The ride we did do was bad enough. You had to put everything in lockers before you got on. There were signs in front of many rides that said if you had an artificial limb you would have to take it off if you wanted to ride. Holy flying limbs! That was enough for me to know I didn't want to ride it. Another bit of proof that age plays a part in what we do. Monday we did Universal Studios. After not having been there for 15 years I realized why. IT ISN'T DISNEY!!!!!!!!!! Again, I was not impressed.
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip

Thanks. It was a great trip. The cruise was very relaxing. The most stressful part of the vacation was getting almost to GA & DH reliving he didn't have his Am Ex card. I had asked him in Harrisburg, PA & he said yes. Next time I ask to see it. Getting a replacement was a real pain because we were going on the ship the next day. We didn't get it till we got to our after cruise hotel & even then we had to go thru a lot of hassle till they found it. Thank goodness I had my VISA for the cruise.

I want to join too! Driving from Ct late November into December. Debating on leaving Friday mid day to get down there by Sunday mid morning or leaving Saturday early morning.

We will have my Dh4 with us but she's pretty good in the car.

The longest drive we've ever made was 15 hours but that was without our daughter.

Hate flying and cost is too much anyway. Plus we will be at seaworld for 2 days and don't want to rent a car.

my vote would be very early sat. morning. (3-4am) if you leave friday afternoon you are just going to sit in traffic anyway would be my guess.

We think this plan makes most sense too. Only problem is that we are going to Seaworld for their christmas shows that Sunday and I've heard the show stop around 4pm. I want time to see them and am hoping we can arrive there by 10am.

that is cutting it close. even leaving friday afternoon. doable!
if you take an inland route, 81/77/26/95, you have to watch for weather, ice.get up in those mtns. in virginia and it can snow in august. if you stick to i95 your looking at major city traffic.
im only about 16 hours but your im guessing another three hours north of me yet. can you leave early on friday so you can get some time on the road in?

We will be driving down to WDW the end of January from southern ny (Staten island). We will stop along the way overnight and in the past have stopped at Santee,sc, but want to go further this year. We always have done the straight i95 route. I rather do most of the driving the first day and only a few hours the second and we don't like driving through the night. Any suggestions on where to stop?

Can you make it to Savannah? Exit 94 I95 South provides many nice hotels. I recommend the Springhill Suites. You can get a large room for under $100.

You can then make it to WDW in less than 5 hours and that includes a stop at the Florida Welcome Center for orange juice!!

Good luck!

Though we stop at Exits 109 or 104 usually. All I 95 "Savannah" choices seem to be a good bet.

still debating on if we should take the inland route or 95. How long between exits if going inland? I'm seriously thinking about throwing a pull up on our 4 year old and making her pee in it sometimes. She probably will look at me like im crazy but it beats stopping at every rest stop!
