Question Navigating Split itinerary EDM>>TOR / Then TOR>>ORL next day itinerary

Only 28 days till we depart!! I did my flight itinerary a little differently this time.....we are flying from Edmonton to Toronto on Sept 27 and staying in the Gateway Sheraton in Terminal 3. The next morning we will fly TOR to ORlando and arrive early afternoon. I am assuming I don't have to clear customs until Thurs. Sept 28 in the AM?? Would this be the best time to put on the yellow ME tickets??? and can anyone help clarify the morning procedure we will most likely encounter for the second leg of our flight???
Thanks!

You are correct- you will preclear Customs on the morning that you depart for Orlando. You would want to have you ME tags on the bags at that time. No need to do it in Edmonton and risk having them torn off accidentally.

Check in with the airline is straightforward. Have your preprinted boarding pass ready. Use the machines to print out your baggage tags. Then get in line for the counter. Follow the instructions on where to go to preclear Customs. (NOTE: you have to go directly from checkin to Customs. No detouring). Once through Customs it's the same as any other flight.

Thank you Minnie Mum! Hoping it all goes smoothly....I wanted to avoid a 4.5 hour wait in the airport with a red eye flight, I'd rather get some sleep the night before, even if we do arrive a little late (11:25pm).....our flight departs on Sept 28 at 10:30am, I figure if we are getting a wake up call at 7:30, showered and breakfast at the hotel (club level) then head to checkin that should give us enough time, as customs/west Jet checkin is in Terminal 3 close to the hotel we are staying at (Gateway Sheraton INSIDE the airport)
