2012 Cars Land 5K & Expo - The DIS Discussion Forums

I just got back from participating in my first runDisney event. The Cars Land 5k was this morning and we had a blast. Since it was not an official "chipped" event a few of us decided to walk most of it and just enjoy. I wrote up a blog post (www.dis-n-that.com) on the Expo and will post on the actual 5K shortly.
I just wanted to share some pictures and my experience with this event.

they also had a board up with the location of the character's throughout the 1/2 marathon route

the event merchandise section had the Official Marathon merchandise including the "I did it!" shirt

I will add a post with the 5k photos later.

I will tell you that this was my first Disney Run event and although it was only the 5K I had a great time and I am already signed up for next years Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon!

I posted up on the blog for the actual race and that includes video.

We all had a great time at the race and would definetly do it again.

The race started and the racers were divided into groups to go off in different waves.

We took off on the race and were on the route the tram takes.

Inside Disneyland we hit all the major sites during the run. Here we go from Critter Country to New Orleans Square with the Haunted Mansion looming ahead.

We passed through the castle on the route.

On to California Adventure and a view of Paradise Pier.

Some familiar faces close to the finish line.

The finish line was located in Cars Land.

Receiving our finishers medal.

A shot of the very cute medal.

At the end they also passed out boxes with energy bars and other snacks.

It was a fun day and the weather was great.

Thanks for the pics and sharing your experience. I am sooo excited to keep hearing about everyone's weekends and loved seeing yours!!
