I participated in the 2011 spring internship program. I got terminated 1 month before graduation for trying to sneak in my friend into the complex after hours and before getting termed, I told them I wanted to try to get back into the company and they told me I was on a no-rehire list for exactly 1 year. I tried to apply for the 2012 fall intership program and I got denied. I'm hoping the reason was because at the time that I applied, it was still not 1 year yet. Does anyone know how I can get back into the company at this time?

You could try to sneak in.

This would be a better question for The College Board because they live/breathe the CP/PI programs.
But I'm pretty sure the short version is: you would be a restricted rehire at this point. They'll want to see that you've held a job for 6 straight months and have matured to a point where you aren't breaking their rules. (No matter how silly they are. Also, I believe that PIs don't live in Price Management housing anymore, so there's less silly rules.) |

I have held a job for over a year after my program and it's the same job I had before the program and I've moved up since then. My managers would help me out and I even have some managers that I worked with during my program that would help me out too.

I'm going to move this over to the College Board. There are more folks there with experience who might have advice for you.

You need to call Deployment (I'll double check that) and see if you are still on no-rehire. If you are, they have paperwork that you'll need to fill out.

But, if you had a strong track record, then, I would suggest strongly suggest writing a letter to a senior member of the program. Be up front and admit your guilt and your heart-felt apology. Add in (maybe in bullets) any / all accomplishments you have had since you left the program. Make sure the letter is very professional - and you may have friends / family critique it. Don't be too emotional - state the facts and keep it simple. Business folks don't like long letters or e-mails - they do not have time to read a ten page letter. I would follow that up with a phone call to the person you sent it too a few weeks after it is sent. Script out that call before you make it! Again, find others to help you get the right tone and message down! "My name is x, I sent you a letter, I want to make sure you received it, I wanted to contact you if you had any questions about me and what I was trying to communicate." What do you say if you get voice mail? Have that scripted also. In preparation, you may search out ex-supervisors and co-workers as references. These folks may also tell you who to approach. Your current bosses references could help also. I think you need to overwhelm with evidence you are a great person and made one stupid mistake. You need to compel someone that does not know you at all: "Ok, one mistake should not condemn a person for life!". I think you are fighting an uphill battle. But, anything is possible if done professionally and properly. Last edited by bom_noite; 08-27-2012 at 02:42 PM. |

anyway, OP, are you talking about the Professional internship or the College Program? Wasn't sure from 'internship'. Either way, though, speaking to someone directly seems like one of the only ways that can help in this case. |

My work record had no reprimands and I got compliments from my managers and I even have some of their business cards and they said they would help me in the future. The only thing that got messed up was that one incident with housing. Before that, I had no warnings or anything with housing. My apartment even got the perfect 10 cleaning when they came to check us.

I think if you are honest and sincere in your apology - assure them that you have no plans on repeating it - etc. I think you may have a chance. |
