Anyone else excited by the Galveston Itinerary changes?
http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/disney-c..._Galveston.htm
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-cruise...as.htm#bahamas I'm so glad they added in Castaway Cay for the longer ones.. that's why we sail Disney. And the 4 nighters are a great option.

No, I am actually very angry. I booked a cruise I really wanted to go on and was excited for and now it is not an option. If I wanted to go to CC and WDW I would have gone to Florida or booked one of the NY cruises.

I can get being annoyed they changed/ move your cruise.
But I think these new itineraries are the way they should have gone in the first place. When people repeat Caribbean cruise, Castaway Cay as a part of the DCL experience is a crucial part of the week long cruise itinerary. That's Disney's offering against Labadee for RCCL. I can go out of Galveston to Cozumel on any line, particularly cheaper, but the Disney difference is what I am paying more for. I'm glad they added back in Castway Cay, because that's a huge part of the Disney difference. And then that March week they split is Spring Break for tons of school districts in Texas, so now they'll just make more $ and it becomes a serious option for us. Wondering why they didn't just plan that originally??? Just my thoughts.

Im actually torn both ways.
On one hand, I booked the cruise out of Galveston, with the ports scheduled the way the originally were, and generally liked the itinerary. I was good with it. Mostly, I wanted to cruise with DCL. I wanted a vacation. 8 nights really appealed to me. And the fact that it was cheaper than the Fantasy was great. The new itinerary, is well, is ok. I love Disney. Going there for a day is fine with me. The possibility of it being cool that day, and maybe a bit damp, doesn't make me thrilled, but it's Disney and I will certainly put on a happy face, enjoy my free ticket in, and enjoy . I have never been to CC before, so going there will be a bonus. I thought my first time there would be my following cruise in 2014 on the Fantasy with my mom, but it will come a year early. Again, might be cool for it, but oh well. And we get Key West still, which Im happy about. Seems the time has changed from pm, to am, which does NOT make me happy, but still happy to visit there. What does not thrill me, is how Disney has done this. I get why, I do understand there logic, and it really makes perfect sense. I don't think that they seem they 'dont know what they are doing'. I just wished that maybe they waited until the 2014 year for this. For some of us sailing in several months ie Jan/Feb, we have airfare booked, hotels perhaps. This could have been big loss on money. And major hassle. In a long story, I am happy with the new changes. Im sailing on a Disney ship. I still get my vacation. I get to explore a new place (Galveston). I can relax and not be at work ![]() Jenn P.S. I think, originally, they didn't plan it, because they hadn't even been close to doing the NYC sailings. Which means, they didn't know how well this 8 nt itinerary was going to go over. And appearantly, it has gone over remarkably well. Which is why they have changed it. Had they known this before hand, maybe they would have made it the original itinerary.

I don't want to go to Cozumel. I want to go to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Costa Maya. CC is just a beach to us. We don't want to sit on a beach. If we did we would drive to the beach and sit on it. And they didn't just add in CC. The entire thing is different. If I wanted to go to WDW I would go there. I want to go to Mexico. The Mexico pavilion at Epcot is not the same thing. I know I am in the minority. I am now pretty sure DCL is just not for us, even though we loved our cruise in January. Most people seam to only care about the ship and CC. The number of people who say they never get off the ship is surprising to me. The Magic is nice but why spend that kind of money to just sit on the ship for a week? To me that is like going to WDW and staying at your resort the entire time, maybe going to a few restaurants. |

Welll I wish they would have changed the Spring Break Cruise that we have to include CC and made it an 8 day instead of 6!! I don't know why the week that most Texas schools are on Spring Break they planned a 6 day! But it is still better than not cruisng at all!

I am thrilled with the new itineraries!!
![]() This is what I was hoping for when they originally said they'd be sailing out of Galveston. I'm cancelling my Nov 2012 cruise to book one of the new itineraries, maybe even book both....

Now, I could just resort hop for a week be happy. LOL. I would call that a "relaxing vacation" versus "traveling". I like the splits only because they are cheaper and I can look at it as a weekend getaway. I kept looking at the 2 night NYC option wondering why Galveston didn't get any short options. I do wish DCL had a clear vision though.

I really like the new itineraries. They don't affect what I have booked, but I wish that they would. We are booked on the Wonder out of Galveston on Dec. 28, 2013. It is kind of a dummy booking. I say kind of, because my wife really wants to cruise over Christmas break & we can drive to TX, so we may end up keeping it. I am hoping a more desireable itinerary works out for us for 2014. If it does, then I will probably move the cruise to 2014. If the Dec. 28 2013 Wonder cruise would go to CC instead of Mexico, we wouldn't be considering a change. However, it is only a 7 day cruise, so I don't think we will get so lucky.

That is just silly to me. I think the people who actually want new ports is a very small number. |

I'm hoping that they'll change some of the fall 2013 Wonder cruises to include CC (they may not have enough time to get to Port Canaveral on a 7 day, but they could certainly do Key West, Nassau, and Castaway Cay, since Carnival is able to pull off a similar itinerary in 7 days). We can't book for this Spring, since we've got a WDW trip with flights booked in November, but we're in for Fall 2013 or Spring 2014! The Texas market will be over the moon about the new itineraries. It is too bad that DCL didn't make this change earlier, avoiding upsetting those who had already booked. --Katie |
