Just wanted to let you know I have completely enjoyed reading your report. We are taking this cruise September 7th and have been reading all your recommendations.

My DH and my stepson would love to take the jet boat ride (but not through Disney). We were thinking of having them doing it early in the morning and then heading back to the ship after to tour St. John's with me and my dad.

I was wondering if you were going straight from the ship and taking a cab to the jet boat, taking the boat ride, getting dried off and then heading back to the ship - how long would all this take. I was thinking maybe 3 hours total. Does this sound about right. I believe they open at 10:00. If they got their early would they be back by 1:00. If so then we would have some time to check out St. John.

They could definitely do a jet boat ride in 3 hours. Cab ride to Fallsview park: 15 minutes; registering and waiting your turn: 30 minutes; getting into rain gear: 15 minutes; riding the jet boat: 30 minutes; changing out of wet clothes and drinking hot cocoa: 30 minutes; ride back to boat: 15 minutes. That's my best guess. I booked online for the ride, a LOT cheaper than through Disney. Enjoy! (You can even do the shopping stalls right outside the boat while they are away!)

Day 4: Saint John

Our jet boat ride was scheduled for 1pm and they said to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time. We found the bus stop for the bus to the Reversing Falls (thanks to a volunteer lady!) but in the end a cab came first and we took that. It was around $12 for the 6 of us which we thought was fair.
Upon arriving at the park, we easily found the site for the boat rides. We checked in and then hung out at the picnic tables on site. There was good shade and ample picnic table space, and wireless internet OH JOY!!! A cute "guard dog" named Pirate. We watched one group get ready for their ride, and another come back all wet and happy, and our excitement started to build. After a short wait our tickets were called and we were given our instructions,

then suited up in yellow rain gear. "Rain gear," laughed the owner (who seemed to enjoy himself immensely!), "is for RAIN!"( i.e. you're gonna get wet anyway!)

Let's just say that it HELPED, but we did still get wet. We boarded the boat barefoot or in socks provided. It was a wildly fun ride! We raced, spun, did dips and splashes. We saw birds and a seal. We tasted salt water and fresh water. We saw the small rapids of the reversing tides. We heard some history and waved to lots of people on shore. Absolutely a blast!

When we got back to the dock we padded up to the changing area and took off our RAIN gear. Then we used the changing rooms to put on dry clothes. We needed to change everything down to the skin! Then there was complimentary hot cocoa and coffee offered. It was truly a fun time!

Love your trip report! We are leaving on Sept 7th. Did the Tour have lockers for your things? You mentioned your DH stayed behind and watched your bags. Thanks

Hello!! Just getting a chance to read your TR. We were on your cruise....in fact, I think we saw you the first day up at Topsiders having lunch (my husband thinks it's totally weird to "know" people from the DIS Board, so I didn't say "hi").

I'm enjoying your TR immensely. It's interesting to see different perspectives on the same event!

When you went to the spa and took a shower, had you purchased a pass?

I don't remember if they said there are lockers, but you could leave "valuables" at their front desk (glasses, watches, cell phones, etc). Have a great time!!! You're so lucky that your trip is still in front of you!!

No need to buy a day pass to use the locker room and shower. It was really nice, with a spouting stream of water and all the soaps and shampoos and lotions. And a big poofy robe. Of course, I had no where to go with the nice robe, just around the locker room! Still it's a fun way to feel the spa feeling without buying a day there.

I know, I know....I should've done it. Next time I'll ignore Mr. Party Pooper! I don't know if you saw, but we actually got picked as the Family of the Day, first on the ship. I was SOOOO excited, even Mr. PP (Party Pooper) got into it.

We got a certificate, our name announced, a picture with both Uncle Sam Mickey and Statue of Liberty Minnie (in the terminal, they switched off, so we but they held Mickey for us so we could have a picture with both of them).

So in actuality, not much, but it was VERY magical.
