So this is a shot in the dark, but before I give Disney a call, I wanted to see what your thoughts were...
We're currently building a house and originally it looked like we were supposed to close in mid-September. Now it's looking like mid-October and we need to be out of our apartment by 10/31...so that only leaves us one or two weekends to move. Of course we found out today. And not 2 days ago before I booked PFTS & a Tequila Lunch for 10/27 & 28. Has anyone had any luck in canceling these events? Or is there an option for us to change the names and for friends to be able to use the tickets instead?

Techincally everything is non refundable. I would call, but don't be surprised if they say "no refund, no changes" sorry!
There is someone on the DVC boards who managed to find a CM who upgraded thier regular 3D Desert Party tickets to the Sweet Seats so who knows? Sometimes it's the luck of the draw |

I'm not positive, but I think as long as it says 7:45, you're ok (Mine says 8:00). I had just called, because I had booked everything while pulled over to the side of the road in my car...when I got to work, I looked to see if the reservations were added to the rest of my ADRs, and it showed up, but didn't say "Sweet Seats" (which I guess it doesn't show, even if they are) I called back just to double-check, and that's when I found out they booked the wrong category.

You will not be refunded, about 10yrs ago they used 2-but not anymore. Believe me there r people who will probably want ur tickets-post on Craiglist. For alot of the less expensive demos they 4 some reason want to see a license or ID. I have never been asked for any ID at PFTS. Its probably the best chance u have ofmaking some of ur money back

I have to say...and yeah, I'm a total Disney lover....but I think the no cancellation policy for these events is totally bogus!! Everybody knows LIFE HAPPENS....people get sick, transportation breaks down, people get unexpected commitments. At a minimum, they should at least offer some type of cancellation insurance, because some of those events are EXPENSIVE. Could you imagine shelling out $270 each for the Wine View Lounge, and then someone gets ill and you can't make it?
There's $540 down the drain for two people!Others, may not know they are going until the last minute, and they may be "sold out". If those who need to cancel, could, then those who had to wait till the last minute for some reason or another, would be able to go. Too bad they can't have a Cancellation/Wait List....when a cancellation matches to an event someone else is wait-listed for, they could swap out the reservation with no monetary loss. If someone doesn't match, then the person on the cancellation list doesn't get reimbursed. |

Good point. I usually call my DH Grumpy but I think he might be Happy or maybe Dopey after enjoying some cocktails and an adult only Disney weekend!

Back in the days when you could cancel they did keep a wait list. I think one of the reasons they no longer allow cancellations is that there were some people who would buy 10+ spaces at events such as the F & W pairings and then cancel at the last possible second if they couldn't get enough people to by the spaces they reserved from them. It became impossible for most people to get seats at many of the smaller events before the no cancellation policy.

I never remember the waiting list I just remembered you could cancel up to the day before the event. I remember paying someone to call repeatedly thru
out several days and she did get me the tickets but she said she called like 50 times a day to check to see if any tickets were available. |

They do work with people who have a legitimate emergency issue that makes them unable to attend a specific event. Of course it does depend upon the CM you speak with. My Mom ended up in the hospital last year during our trip. They not only refunded for her seats but they refunded mine also for 2 events we weren't able to attend. I was fully expecting them to tell me they would only refund hers but they didn't even question refunding for both of us. I went through the Concierge in person at our hotel rather than trying to take care of it over the phone.
Like I said earlier I believe the policy was put into effect to curb the abuse of the old refund policy by people who were buying up most of the seats & reselling or cancelling. It got so bad that I think they realized they had pretty much the exact same group at almost every F & W Pairing at LeCellier each date they held it and had a lot of unhappy guests who weren't able to book even one of the dates. |
